Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Two days later.
Gwendolyn had prepared the herbal tea early for Howard.
After getting ready, she slipped into a floral dress and draped a white coat over her shoulders, looking even more vibrant and enchanting.
“Mr. Chadwick, I’m heading out,” she said to Howard lounging on the living room couch, engrossed in a TV show.
Howard asked casually, without looking away from the screen, “So early?”
“I’m going to visit my grandma first. The doctor said she’s getting better, and I’m really happy about that.”
“Well.”
As Howard watched her skirt swish cheerfully on her way out, he grabbed his phone and dialed Nathan, “The secret meeting tonight is transferred to Palate Paradise.”
At six in the evening.
The parking lot outside Palate Paradise was jam–packed. A group of students huddled together, the class representative of the Pharmacology major ticking off names on a list.
“Has Gwendolyn showed up yet? Haven’t seen her in what, four or five months since the winter break?” A few girls whispered among themselves.
“She’s probably still in bed with some sugar daddy.” There were rumors in school about Gwendolyn getting into a luxury car and hanging out with some old man.
“Mamie, you’re her roommate, you must know something,” they prodded curiously. “Is Gwendolyn really being a mistress?”
The girl named Mamie, sporting a flawless makeup with a designer bag worth over twenty thousand, whispered, “Don’t talk about Gwendolyn like that. She has her reasons if she’s doing that kind of thing. Her family is poor and her grandma’s been sick…” Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“It’s so gross that she’s with that old man! And here you are, defending her!”
“Mamie is rich and beautiful, kind–hearted and generous, nothing like Gwendolyn. I heard you’re friends with the heiress of the Chadwick family…”
Mamie smiled awkwardly.
Just then, a blue Porsche zoomed up and stopped in front of them, causing a stir. “Scott’s here!”
A handsome young man in a white shirt got out of the car, one hand in his pocket, the other swinging the car keys.

“Scott, that car must’ve cost you a million, huh?”
Scott just smiled, “We’ve got several more at home.”
“Wow, talk about the wealthy.”
“Scott, we’ve been itching for you to open up the VIP room. We’ll just text the room number to anyone who hasn’t made it here yet,” the class rep reminded.
Scott’s uncle was the facilities manager at Palate Paradise and had snagged them a spacious VIP room. For many of these students, it was a once–in–a–lifetime chance to be in such a fancy hotel so they eagerly snapped photos with their phones.
“Follow me,” Scott said with a satisfied smirk, basking in the admiration. “Tonight, we dine in style, eighteen hundred a table. Enjoy yourselves.”
There were gasps and a torrent of compliments, with the occasional sour comment, “Gwendolyn is so lucky. I heard Scott is planning to confess his love to her.”
The group followed the waiter to VIP room 201, marveling at the opulent and stylish decor, even the fruit platter was the most lavish they’d seen.
“Start without me, I need to find my uncle,” said Scott, giving Mamie a knowing look. She followed him, clutching her designer bag.
In the dimly lit corridor.
Scott asked with a stern face, “Are you sure Gwendolyn is coming?”
Mamie leaned against the wall, replying, “She said she’ll be here soon. I’ve made all the preparations, and don’t you forget the hundred grand you promised me.”
Scott snorted, “Your reward is waiting as long as everything goes according to plan. But is it true what they say about her being a mistress?”
“True or not, you’ll know once you’ve slept with her,” Mamie said with scorn. “Whether she’s a virgin or not, you’ll feel the difference.”
Scott chuckled. Either way, it was a win for him.
“Look, there she is,” Mamie nodded towards the end of the corridor.
A girl as radiant as moonlight approached through the soft yellow light, her beauty magnified, even her shadow seemed graceful and lively.
