Chapter 56: I was Samuel's Lover
Chapter 56: I was Samuel's Lover
When Olivier exited the shower, the cat and Fleur's clothes were nowhere to be found. Fleur sat on the
sofa, hugging a pillow with a book in her hands. There was first aid kit in front of her.
It was obvious she was waiting for him to help her with her hand. Olivier went closer and saw the book
was written in Russian.
Did she understand?
Olivier sat opposite her, looking at how serious she looked. Her dark hair was still wrapped in a towel,
showing her delicate neck which accentuated her beauty even more.
"What does the book say?" Olivier asked.
Without looking up, Fleur flipped a page. "No idea." She took her phone and took a picture of the page
before scanning it with a translating software. English text appeared quickly on her screen.
...
"Don't act cultured if you don't understand."
Fleur raised her head and glanced at him, a cunning look flashing in her eyes. "It has some exciting
content.
"So you read porn."
Olivier's eyes lit up. "This is one of the famous works of Russian writer Sherman, 'Killer'. The copy in
your hands is the very first edition he ever published before his death, which is no longer for sale. The
latest edition had been translated into English and was best-selling for a period of time.
"The translation was exquisite to the point where it felt ike you're experiencing the story, especially the
s*x scenes, clearly painting the exchange between man and woman, their tides of passion and
mellowness, including the quaint touch of feminine shyness."
Fleur listened quietly.
"This translator quickly became famous in Y City." Olivier's eyes grew slightly sharp as he gazed at her
intently. "And his name was Samuel Muller."
Olivier's voice was deep and magnetic. His face was bright and clean from just after the shower,
muscles apparent from his open bathrobe.
Yet surprisingly, Fleur did not move to touch him. She would never had let go of this opportunity before.
"The s*x scenes are mainly in the latter half of the story. In the beginning, it mainly talks about a killer
who gets close to the male lead and all their interactions. The first s*x scene starts on the 236th page,
but you're only on the 10th page," Olivier said slowly.
Fleur's back grew numb, though her face remained gentle and steady.
"When I asked you what the book was talking about, you said you didn't know which meant you haven't
read it before. If you were translating it with your phone, that rules out the possibility of you randomly
finding the page and understanding it. So how do you know this book has a s*x scene?"
...
It was extremely quiet.
She felt as if she could hear her erratic heartbeats.
Half a minute later, Olivier held her hand. White and red stood in clear contrast with one another. He
gazed up at Fleur and said, "The other possibility is that you listened to the translator talk about it in All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
person."
Olivier took a cotton swab and applied some steriliser to her skin.
"Do you want to hear the truth?" Fleur asked.
"Tell me." Olivier held her wrist and continued cleaning the scald injury on the back of her hand.
"I don't know what the story is about, but I've read scenes like it countless times."
Olivier silently stared at her.
"There are so many versions of it online. I remembered it as soon as I saw the name of the
protagonist." Fleur hooked his chin with a cold finger. He raised her head.
Cold eyes and stiff expression. Olivier squeezed her hand briefly.
Fleur flinched from the pain.
"Behave yourself."
Fleur looked at him faintly, grumbling, "I can't even touch your chin? I thought you were a virgin, all
clean and pure. How would you know where the s*x scene starts on the 236th page? How many times
have you read it?"
She glanced at his right hand. "It doesn't look like there's any callouses either."
"Fleur Leroy."
Fleur had a feeling whenever Olivier called her full name he was going to give her a scolding.
"I remember the storyline and the scenes in my head, clear as day, not just the s*x scenes."
Oh.
Olivier lowered her head and looked at her hand. Her hand was not small, after all, she was 1.7 meters
tall. But her hand did appear delicate in Olivier's grasp. Besides her injury, the rest of her skin was
white as snow.
He turned her wrist and kept a thumb on her pulse, continuing, "Back then, Samuel had a lover whom
he held dear and always hid from public eye. Not even we have seen her. We only heard from Samuel
that she was very beautiful."
Then he looked up at her face. "Even more so than Odette."
Fleur said nothing, quietly waiting for him to continue. Her eyes were very gentle.
"Samuel insisted on marrying her. The Muller family would never let some woman they had never seen
marry into their family, but Samuel was very loyal to this lover, so he fell out with his family because of
her and never reconciled, no matter how much it hurt him to never see his parents."
He paused for a while and said, "His fiancée too."
A scattered look appeared in Fleur's eyes but quickly faded.
"This fiancée was Virginie Lopez."
Her pulse rapidly skipped a few, then slowed down. Her heart had jumped.
She had slipped up.
Both of them instantly knew.
It was quiet in the bedroom for a long time. Whether this silence was some kind of probing, or waiting,
waiting for her to confess.
Half a minute later, Fleur said, "Yes, I was Samuel's lover."
"I'm didn't want to talk about our relationship since he'd died." Fleur's eyes stared over Olivier's head.
She raised a hand and touched his hair. "Even if you don't want to know my motives, I'll have to tell you
now."
When Olivier lifted his head, she put her hand away. He was not surprised she was Samuel's lover. He
had thought about the possibility before.
Though wounded, Fleur depicted grace with the way she splayed her hand on her thigh. Her voice was
low. "If it weren't for Virginie, Samuel and I would be married by now. Although I've never been to Y
City, Virginie never stopped harassing Samuel when we were together. It was non-stop throughout the
days and nights."
"After Samuel died, I left. When I came to Y City, the rumors between you and Virginie were strong."
Her eyes were cold. "So I had to find a way to get close to you. I won't let you be with her."
Olivier's eyes suddenly became much colder with something far worse than anger. "So you're willing to
use your body as bait?"
"It's just a body. I hate Virginie more than anything else. Plus, this is you we're talking about. I would
give up more than just my body."
"I feel so honoured." Olivier said with gritted teeth before setting her hand down and heading for the
balcony.
