Chapter 50 He came so soon
Chapter 50 He came so soon
"It is all right. I do not have many things. I can do it myself. Thank you for finding a house for me." She
did not have anything else than a few clothes in the Jones family. Plus, she felt like she'd already
troubled him to find a house for her and asked him to help her move. That was a bit much.
Joel saw her refusal and said. "All right, I'll send you the address. If you need my help, you can call
me."
"I know, thank you." She nodded, but she did not want to bother him further.
"Is not it too perfunctory for you to thank me in that way?"
"Well, would you like me to buy you dinner?" Jane raised her eyebrows slightly, and she had to invite
him to dinner.
"Let us go. Do not forget you owe me a meal." Joel shut up immediately. He had been waiting for her to
say that.
Jane nodded helplessly. "Got it."
After work in the afternoon, Jeffery first went to pick up the car and waited for Jane. Thereupon he
waited here and there, but no one came down. His face became a little ugly.
He made a phone call, but no one answered.
He had to ask Aldred about the situation.
A cold sweat stood on Aldred's brow. She said anxiously. "Mr. President, I have inquired about it. Miss.
Carter took a leave of absence this afternoon and is not with the company."
Jeffery's face was black as ink. He said icily. "'Why did she ask for leave? I do not know. When did I
give her leave?"
Aldred's face was stiff. "Well, Secretary Jane, if you want to ask for leave, you can authorise it directly
with Human Resources."
Jeffery looked at him sharply and said. "In future you will need my permission to ask for leave."
"Yes, President."
After Jeffery went back, he saw Nanny Wu in the sitting room. She asked with a cold expression.
"Where is she?"
Nanny Wu knew at once of whom he spoke. "Mr Jeffery, Miss Carter moved out this afternoon."
"What did you say?" Jeffery narrowed his eyes slightly. So she left this afternoon because she'd
moved? Was she that anxious to move out of here?
Nanny Wu looked at Jeffery's ugly face and sighed in her heart. Actually, she liked Jane, too. But she
could not prevent him from going.
"I know." Jeffery walked upstairs with a frown. After going upstairs, he immediately asked the assistant
to find out where she had moved to.
Aldred had lately known that his president seemed to care much for Jane. She dared not hesitate any
longer, and went at once to find out.
Ten minutes later, Aldred sent the address she had found to Jeffery's phone.
Jeffery drove straight out of the house. "Did that woman move out of his house without his permission?
She's so bold, and she dares to hide from me."
By this time he had forgotten what Jane had told him several times.
Jeffery galloped all the way to Jane's neighborhood.
At this point Jane was sitting in the room in a daze. Hearing a knock at the door, she at last came to his
senses.
She looked at the door and could not help but be puzzled.
Who would knock on his door so late at night?
"I moved here today. It seems that no one knows me here."
She got up and walked towards the door. When she opened the door and saw the figure in the
doorway, she was stunned.
"Jeffery, why are you here?"
The man outside gave her a cold look without answering. With a scowl he passed her and went straight
inside. Jane felt a little cold and nervous when he looked at her like that.
Then she immediately closed the door and followed in.
Seeing the man sitting on the sofa like a big shot, she was suddenly at a loss.
As she had only moved in today, there was nothing to pack at home. When she saw that he was not
speaking and his dark eyes were staring at her, she pursed her lips slightly and asked. "Um, how did
you know I was here?"
How did he know she had moved home this afternoon? Could Joel be the one who had told him about
it?
She let her imagination run wild, but Jeffery only raised his eyes. He looked her straight in the face, and
there was an air of playfulness and mockery in his eyes. "You think I do not know what's going on All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
here?"
Jane held her tongue at the thought of his power.
She was foolish enough to ask such a stupid question.
"Well, sit down for a bit and I'll get you a glass of water." She did not want to stay here and stare at him,
so she turned to go to the kitchen.
"There's no need."
His slightly cold voice came from behind. Jane paused, and then he said. "I don't want to drink."
She did not force him. She knew that a spoiled son of rich family like him would not want to drink the
plain boiled water here. However, she did not have the crude coffee he usually drank.
"By the way, it's so late. What are you doing here?"
He could not leave, nor could he drive him away. Jane turned helplessly, looked at him, and chatted
with him.
When Jeffery heard her question, the anger he had suppressed in his heart came up again.
That stupid woman was so uncomfortable that she did not want to see me?
"You moved away from my house without saying a word, and I still can not come?" He let out a cold
snort and felt only a nameless flame burning in his chest.
Jane was blocked by his words and did not know what to say. She remembered that she had told him
yesterday. So why was he silent now?
She was speechless. Jeffery grew even angrier when he saw her lower her head and remain silent.
"What's the matter? Are you mute?"
"Mr. Jones, I asked you yesterday already!" she warned in a low voice.
"Really?" Mr. Jones gave her a false smile. "I said I would allow you to come out."
Jane looked down at the tips of her shoes, unwilling to answer such a question.
"Mr. Jones, actually, I think..." She hesitated a moment, then said thoughtfully. "It's good for all three of
us to go now. Miss. Crowe should come to our house more often in the future. If she sees me every
time, I fear she will worry too much. If she misunderstands our relationship, it will not be good."
"Have you misunderstood our relationship?" Jeffery looked at her with a faint smile. "Miss. Carter, what
do you think our relationship is?"
Jane was a little taken aback by his sudden question. He was stunned for a moment, and did not know
how to answer.
The relationship between them was usually that between the boss and his secretary. But she, the
secretary, went back to bed with the boss...
