Chapter 32 Invitations
Blanche was cutting fruit on the sofa in the living room, preparing a fruit breakfast for herself. She hadn't slept well the night before and had dark circles under her eyes, so she intended to eat some fruit to replenish her vitamins.
Louis had not yet gone to the company and was sitting on the sofa next to her with his long legs crossed in gray pants, not saying a word.
Blanche felt her face getting hot and when she looked up, she saw the man next to her staring at her with a strange look in his eyes.
Feeling uncomfortable with his gaze, Blanche turned to the side and continued to cut the fruit, but Louis still fixed his eyes on her. Blanche wondered what he was looking at.
Even a few seconds later, he still kept his eyes on her.
Blanche was speechless. She put down the knife and rubbed the place between her eyebrows, wondering what he was staring at with such a strange look.
Suddenly, what had happened the night before flashed through Blanche's night. Recalling that he had pressed her down while looking at her intense gaze, she felt so embarrassed and guilty that her forehead turned red.
Louis frowned, thinking that this woman must have thought of something. She picked up some documents from the table and left, walking out quickly.
Staring at his proud back as he left, Blanche suddenly remembered that she still had to discuss with him about attending his grandmother's birthday banquet. She hurriedly chased after him.
When Blanche came out, Louis had already started the car and was ready to leave.
"Wait a minute," Blanche shouted as she ran down the steps, but Louis drove the car away.
Blanche chased after him for a while, and the two bodyguards following her caught up.
She turned to look at them. "What are you doing?"
"Mrs. Herbart, we're protecting you as Mr. Louis ordered us to do."
Blanche turned to look at Louis's car, which had already moved out the gate.
"Protecting me? It's more like you're keeping a watch on me."
The two bodyguards did not respond and admitted it in silence.
No matter where Blanche went, the two bodyguards followed her and didn't let her leave the villa.
Blanche struggled with them for the entire morning, but she still couldn't get rid of them.
With time passing, Blanche got more and more anxious. She sat on the sofa with a worried face.
Tammy finished her makeup and before leaving, she impatiently looked at Blanche, who was sitting in the living room, and ordered the two bodyguards.
"Keep an eye on her. Don't let her leave the villa today!"
Then the sound of a car starting came, and Tammy left for the banquet.
In the tense situation, someone came into the villa and reported to Blanche, "Mrs. Herbart, someone is here to meet you."
Blanche wondered who it could be and looked toward the entrance, only to see Dany walk in aggressively. When Dany approached, Blanche simply gave her a glance without talking to her, which greatly hurt Dany's pride.
Dany put her hands on her hips and snarled, "Blanche, what's with your attitude? Can't you see I'm here?"
"What's up?" Blanche glanced at her nonchalantly. Dany had definitely come for no good reason, and Blanche was not in the mood to entertain anyone because she was only concerned about the birthday banquet.
"What kind of attitude is that? Do you really think of yourself as Mrs. Herbart? Don't forget you're just an abandoned girl in the Kent family. It's not like you're any better off in the Herbart family."
Never did Dany expect that Blanche would give her the cold shoulder. Dany was both surprised and furious with a red face, thinking, "Da*n it! How dare she be so dismissive of me?"
"Are you done? If you are, then please leave!" said Blanche.
"Well, well, look at you! Are you trying to drive me away? But let's not forget how you married into the Herbart family. I gave you the chance. Otherwise, my daughter Nicole would be Mrs. Herbart now. Bi*ch, you stole her husband."
Dany's eyes were full of resentment. She had never thought that Louis was not really disabled.
When Dany read the news yesterday, she was so angered that she even fainted. She really regretted giving Blanche a good chance and causing her to suffer from so much loss.
"What are you two waiting for? Someone is stirring up trouble here. Drive her out!" Blanche motioned to the two bodyguards with a hook of her finger.
The bodyguards walked up and stood in front of Dany.
"Please leave, or don't blame us for being rude!" said one of the bodyguards.
"Blanche, are you trying to drive me away?"
Before Dany could finish her sentence, the two bodyguards grabbed her by the wrists and dragged her out.
Dany realized that the situation was not in her favor, and her face changed. She complained inwardly, "Da*n it! This bi*ch actually dared to put on airs and order me." But things were indeed different now. Dany pondered for a while and changed her attitude, beaming.
"Well, Old Mrs. Herbart is holding a birthday banquet today. Can you give me two invitations so that I can bring Nicole to the banquet with me?"
Asking for invitations to attend the banquet was indeed something Dany would do. After all, it was a good opportunity for her to make friends with the ride and powerful, and climb the social ladder. However, Blanche was still trying to get an invitation for herself. How could she help Dany? But Blanche knew she couldn't just say that.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
