Caught Between My Mate And A Demon

Getting to know her

Upon reaching the spot, both of them quietly sat down.

“How has your day been?” Joel broke the silence.

“Normal. How about yours?” She inquired.

“I was just returning from the office. It was a cool day with hectic emotions. You literally cloud my thoughts.” He replied, and Nima gave him a fake glare.

“Stop this. You just say stuff out of nowhere.” She chided.

Joel smiled and turned to face her, noticing her shyness.

“I just suck at keeping my feelings hiding. And I love how you blush each time you hear them.” He said with a taunting smile.

Nima turned to face him once again and shot him a playful glare, “Don’t get ahead of yourself. I was just caught unaware each time, and it’s quite embarrassing.” She said.

“Ha! Yeah!” Joel exclaimed dramatically. “I get it now. Thank God I finally have someone to feel embarrassed on my behalf.” He added, and Nima let out a sigh before shaking her head and looking away from him.

“You are something else.” She muttered in a disbelieving tone.

“Am I now?” He chuckled while Nima just shook her head once again.

They both stayed silent for a while, Joel looking ahead, while Nima was acutely aware of his presence.

“About.”

“About last.”

“Ladies first.” Joel said Nima stayed quiet for a while before, opening up.

“About last night. I admit that I wasn’t looking past intimacy and your assistant to help with my channel.

Your appearance in my life was too sudden, and I guess I panicked. I never thought you would want more. And I still can’t assure you that I want more cause my life at the moment is complicated.

I want to consent to getting to know you better. I want to let things flow and see where it leads. As I hate lies, I wouldn’t want to build any kind of relationship on it so I will like you to know that although I’m attracted to you, I am giving this a meaningful chance because I wish to break out of my shell.

Not because of the attraction. But I am enjoying the man you are so far and wouldn’t mind seeing where fate could lead us.” Nima paused and took a deep breath.

Her hands were now shaking slightly. She was making the biggest decision of her life since 5 years ago.

She was letting a stranger in. It scares and excites her at the same time.

Joel noticed that her emotions were letting the chilly hair seep through her skin more and stood up to pull off his suit jacket.

Nima watched him attentively as he gently placed it on her thighs to cover her exposed legs.

She felt a little at ease at his gestures. Their eyes soon met after he relaxed back at his seat.

Her striking blue eyes gazed at his silvery brown one. Joel gave her an assuring look, and Nima took a gulp of the built-up saliva in her throat before asking, “Joel can I trust you won’t make me regret ever meeting you”

Seeing how vulnerable she let herself be, Joel confidently nodded his head, his eyes not looking away from her own for a second.

“I understood it’s too sudden and early to speak of trust, but I can swear on my life that I’ve never wanted any woman like I craved for you. I saw you on screen and felt bewitched, and as I’m getting to know you as a person, I’m being proven right that I’ve indeed met the woman I want to experience life with.

I won’t profess love to you, cause I’m only just sorting my emotions, hence why I asked you to let us start from somewhere. To your question, I will never do anything to hurt you, and I hope for that in return cause I also don’t want to be hurt.” Joel said, and Nima let out a deep breath with a blush painting her face.

The man literally made her a blushing wreck whenever they were together .

“That’s reassuring. But there’s something I must tell you, though. Something that might be a source of hurt in the future.” She said.

Nima had no idea what her past was and when it would catch up with her. It might happen to be a complicated one, and she at least wants this man to be prepared for it.

“Tell me.” Joel urge, his gaze attentive to give her the impression of his full focus on everything she has to say.

Nima began her story by explaining that 5 years ago, she had suddenly found herself in the middle of the street along the rural side of the city.

At that time, it felt like she lacked the concept of how the world works. Her brain was blank, and her sense of awareness was lacking.

Nima had tried to make sense of what was happening, but by the time she realized what was happening, the flash of a car’s headlight so close to her made her look up.

It was as if she lacked the ability to be frightened then. She just remained calm.

“What the hell!” A female voice had made her look up to see a beautiful lady in all blacks.

Emily, at that time, was returning from her outing to the club and having fun as it was her off day at work.

The woman couldn’t believe she nearly hit a person. “What….” She was about to scream at Nima when a weird sensation was felt inside her body and soul.

It was as if something was trying to push her consciousness out of her body, and it succeeded.

Although Nima believed that was the day she met her dear friend, the truth had been that Nimalaya’s demon had just found a suitable host and possessed the body.

Nimalaya continued her story by explaining how Emily, who at first looked mad at her, suddenly softened her expression and helped her to her feet.

Lost on who or where she was, Nimalaya had followed Emily to her home, and he helped her get herself together.
