Chapter 13
SYDNEY’S POV***
Continuous buzzing of the alarm I set on the eve of my first day at work made me stumbled out of bed as I dashed towards my bathroom to get prepared for work. After having a warm bath, I stepped out and couldn’t settle on a particular fit.
I stared at the clothes in my wardrobe and discovered I needed a change as casuals weren’t much in it. I settled on a blue skirt with a slit at the front and white chiffon sleeve and a pair of black heels.
After putting on the fit, I completed my look with light makeup as usual and detangled my hair with a hot comb, letting it rest on my back without packing it in a ponytail or wrapping in a bun.
I picked up my bag and stepped out of my apartment without having breakfast, hurrying to get a taxi with the aim of not falling in the trap of the devil duo.
I boarded a taxi which dropped me at the entrance of the company and I payed the drive for his services before he drove off. I took a deep breath before proceeding to walk into the reception.
I greeted my colleagues I came across, before stepping into the elevator and the moment I reached the last floor, I began feeling anxious because I have no idea of the dramatic display I will face this morning.
I reached my office and settled down, preparing for the day’s activities as I powered on the system on my desk and a series of notifications kissed my screen.
Paxton flooded my email with a series of unsorted documents which means my day is really going to be hectic. I took my seat and began sorting the files carefully trying my best to avoid a mistake that will make him summon me later on.
He stepped in after fifteen minutes and I fixed my gaze on my system, uttering a “good morning boss” reluctantly as he walked past me without a reply and I scoffed when he was out of sight.
“So rude”, I muttered under my breath as I continued with the task at hand, sending the sorted ones back to Dana who was earlier introduced to me as their secretary one after the other to proofread before sending to him finally.
After sorting out the files, I went out for lunch happily because Paxton decided not to give me a workload that would eat into my lunch time.
I reached the cafe and took a seat as I made an order of baked mushrooms and spinach, accompanied with chilled juice. I enjoyed the tasty meal while sipping my juice silently. Come to think of it, Jaxton didn’t call me today, “wow!!” This calls for a celebration.
I ate my meal peacefully before returning to the office and Dana stepped in, telling me to complete the paperworks on her desk as she’d be accompanying Paxton to a meeting.
I sighed exasperatedly, before proceeding to fetch the files as Paxton walked past me coldly, with his attention fixed on the direction he was heading. My female colleagues stared at him, blushing like teenagers and I shook my head before proceeding to Dana’s desk.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“The files aren’t much, I’ll attend to them later” I told myself as I hopped towards Jaxton’s office to see what he’s up to.
A bratty female employee whose name I can’t tell bumped into me spilling the juice she was sipping on me and I looked at her face which held no remorseful expression.
“Hey!, Watch your way next time” she hollered rudely, as I stared at her retreating figure with fury.
“Who does she think she is!!?” I fired, staring at her retreating figure.
I would have pulled off a handful of her hair if this wasn’t an organization because of her unapologetic and rude behavior. Staring at my ruined sleeve, I hurried towards my destination which was Jaxton’s office.
Angrily, I slammed the door open without giving it a second thought and my gaze flew towards the couch where Jaxton was drilling a lady who knelt on the couch, from behind as she moaned shamelessly.
Their gaze was directed towards my direction immediately they noticed my presence and I recognized the lady as the one I came across on the day of my interview who was at the reception, obviously for the same interview.
“Care to make it threesome?” She asked shamelessly as I slammed the door and stood by it for a few seconds and their shameless moans continued to sound, leaving me with no option than to run away from the vicinity.
