Chapter 38: The Charity Gala

Ethan stepped out respectfully, but thought to himself, “Finding a hacker beller than Jioleek? Not so sure about that.”

“Back in the day, he was a world–famous hacker.”

Chloe closed her chat with Michael, then spotted a familiar company name among the list of potential partners.

“Is this company beefing with Paramount Airlines or what?”

“The email was crystal clear. Their target is Paramount Airlines.”

Chloe slid her mouse, clicked auto–reply, and accepted the order in a heartbeat. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“The commission for this order is low, and it’s not technically challenging. With your skills, do you really need to stoop this low? Are you seriously changing your target audience just to mess with Michael?”

“I do what I want, when I want!”

She was absolutely badass!

Candy slipped on her slippers, grabbed a drink from the fridge, then turned and said, “Impressive!”

Since deciding to get a divorce, Chloe’s been getting stronger and stronger.

Chloe circled a date on the calendar. Candy, munching on an apple, walked over. “Got plans that day? Another divorce?”

“There was a charity gala that night.”

The charity gala was packed with wealthy elites and celebrities from all walks of life.

Chloe heard there’s a famous psychiatrist, renowned both nationally and internationally, attending tonight’s banquet.

She’d done her research before. Wendy’s illness might be something he could cure.

This is a rare chance.

The charity gala arrived in no time. Chloe donned a champagne mermaid gown, pinning her hair back with a pearl clip.

She never dyed her hair ‘cause Michael wasn’t into it.

Her hair was impeccably maintained, silky smooth. When she pulled it up, she looked incredibly gentle.

Guests attending the charity gala must make a donation.

Chloe was no different. She casually picked a sapphire necklace and donated it.

“You’re joining? Where’s Candy?”

Chloe thought, “Candy said she’d come with me. How did it end up being Quinn?

“She’s busy. Let’s head inside; it’s freezing out here.”

The registration booth was outside. The breeze made it kinda chilly.

Chloe forgot her shawl today.

She stepped into the ballroom and shot a text to Candy.

“Where are you?”

“Can’t make it. My man won’t let me.”

Chloe jokingly replied, “You ditched me for a guy?”

Candy quickly replied: “I’m sending Quinn to be your bodyguard. Make good use of him!”

Chloe thought, “What do you mean by ‘using‘ him?”

She rolled her eyes and shut off her phone, only to look up and find Quinn still staring at it.

“Don’t listen to her. She’s just messing around.”

“Sure thing.“

She calmly linked arms with the muscular Quinn, scanning the room for the doctor.

But there were too many people, she couldn’t see a thing.

The two circled the venue, coming up empty–handed.

Her heels were a bit too high today, so she leaned on Quinn’s shoulder to stretch her ankles.

“I’ll hit the restroom real quick. Hang tight for a sec.”

Quinn reached out to steady her, but she let go of his hand and walked away on her own.

Despite her throbbing foot, she stood tall and moved with graceful elegance, fooling everyone around her.

Before, to marry Michael, she mastered all the high society etiquette. She practiced alone at home for a long time to ensure he would never be embarrassed in public.

But he never once took her to a place like this.
