Echoes Of a Forsaken Heart

Chapter 292

Natalia was just about to hit the hay when suddenly, a knock came from the door.

Scarlett called out, somewhat irritated, "Who is it now?"

She went to open the door and was blunt. "Yes?"All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

"Who is it?" Natalia asked.

"Some jerk! And he's got a woman with him."

Natalia frowned and went over.

At the door, she froze.

Hamilton was drenched from head to toe.

His black shirt clung to him, outlining his physique.

And the nanny, not a spot wet on her.

Natalia's expression soured instantly.

This jerk, definitely up to no good.

She glared at Hamilton. "What do you want?"

Before Hamilton could speak, the nanny chimed in.

"Mr. Fowler sent me over with some food and stuff for you."

As she spoke, she made her way inside.

Natalia wanted to stop her but felt awkward doing so.

As the nanny entered, Hamilton tried to follow.

Natalia was about to shut the door.

Hamilton quickly stopped it with his foot.

"I'm soaking wet, let me come in and change."

Natalia was not amused.

"I don't have clothes for you."

Unabashed, Hamilton persisted, "Then let me just dry off, can I?"

Seeing his hair still dripping, Natalia found herself unable to refuse.

Just then, the nanny spoke up again.

"Oh dear, if he doesn't dry off, he'll catch a cold." She pulled Hamilton inside.

"Ms. Jenkins, Mr. Fowler didn't want to get your clothes wet, so he gave me the umbrella. Just let him dry off."

Natalia looked from the nanny to Hamilton.

Finally, she turned, fetched a towel from the bathroom, and threw it at him.

"Dry off and get out!"

Hamilton caught the towel with a smile and began to dry himself leisurely.

Scarlett thought to herself, what a shameless man.

If it were her, she'd probably have thrown him out with the mop. This jerk, only daring to take advantage of Natalia's soft heart! The nanny had brought a thermos.

She now opened it at the dining table.

"Ms. Jenkins, and Scarlett, right? I made some soup; come have some."

The nanny didn't act like an outsider at all. After speaking, she then looked at Hamilton.

"Mr. Fowler, have some too after you're done. It'll warm you up."

Hamilton nodded, finished drying off, and went to get three bowls.

After serving everyone, Hamilton approached Natalia, looking at her, "Try it, the nanny made it especially for you."

"I'm not hungry."

Natalia turned to go back to her room.

But Hamilton pulled her back, handing her a bowl of soup.

"Eat while you can, before you start feeling sick."

His comment made Scarlett snort with derision.

"Wow, Mr. Fowler cares now? Where were you when Natalia needed you?"

Hamilton's gaze darkened.

"Dr. Scarlett, Elliott is trying to mess up your residency, did you know?"

Scarlett was taken aback, "What?"

Hamilton smirked, "Seems like your hospital's residency slots got delayed, but Benevolent Care Hospital got a bunch of new opportunities through an international partnership." Scarlett was livid. Elliott, that nutcase!

She changed and stormed out.

Natalia quickly grabbed her.

"Where are you going this late? It's still raining outside!"

"I'm going to settle scores with that lunatic!" Scarlett tried to leave but Natalia pulled her back.

"Can't you settle this some other time? Why go out in the rain?"

Scarlett was fuming but realized going out in the rain to confront Elliott wasn't worth it.

She glared at Hamilton and muttered, "Figures, no man's any good."

Then she stormed into her room, slamming the door behind her. Hamilton's smile twitched.

Natalia told him plainly, "Drink up and leave."

Hamilton led her to the dining table. "Have some, don't waste it."

Natalia really wasn't in the mood.

Who drinks soup before bed?

But seeing the nanny's hopeful look, she eventually took a few sips.

Hamilton smiled, "Tastes good?"

Natalia nodded.

"Then let the nanny stay. If you won't let me stay, at least let someone be here for you. I'd feel better."

Natalia paused, looking at Hamilton.

After a moment, she managed a bittersweet smile.

"Scarlett takes good care of me."

Turning to the nanny, she said, "Thank you, but you should go."

The nanny looked torn between Hamilton and Natalia.

Hamilton chuckled, "Natalia, if you don't keep her, I'll have to fire her."

Natalia choked up.

"Hamilton, did you even listen to what I told you before?"

He gently caressed her cheek. "All I know is, 're my woman, and that's my child in your belly. Natalia, I want to marry you, live well with you,

be by your side, see our child born."

en

Natalia laughed, tears in her eyes.

"Do you think that's possible? The Fowler family, they won't accept me, nor our child. I can't risk our child's future on a whim."

Hamilton smiled, "Whether they accept you or not, you're the one for me, Natalia. It's okay if you're not ready now; I've got patience." After finishing his piece, he stood up and headed towards the door.

As he walked, he left a message hanging in the air.

"If the nanny wants to stay, let her stay. If not, she can just head back to her hometown."

With that said, his figure vanished through the doorway.

Natalia felt a wave of gloom wash over her.

"Ms. Jenkins," the nanny looked at Natalia with an innocent gaze.

Natalia returned her look, "Stay if you like, but we've only got a two-bedroom here, so there's no spare room for you. You'll have to commute. But given the constant rain outside, don't bother leaving tonight. Just make do with the couch."

The nanny quickly nodded in agreement.

"Okay, thank you, Ms. Jenkins."

Natalia nodded and went to fetch a blanket for the nanny.

Seizing the moment, the nanny sent a message to Hamilton.

Ms. Jenkins has agreed to let me stay.

It didn't take long for Hamilton to reply.

A raise it is.

Hamilton sat in his car downstairs, flipping through photo after photo on his phone.

All the pictures were of Natalia sleeping.

Some were of her alone, others showed him holding her, and a few captured their hands intertwined.

Hamilton's gaze lingered on the diamond ring on Natalia's hand in the photos.

He rubbed his finger over it slightly and then let out a small chuckle.

That diamond ring, he would surely put it back on her finger one of these days!

He was about to put away his phone when it suddenly rang.

"Bro, that psychiatrist definitely had dealings with Patrick. Patrick's been his supplier for several years, but then, out of the blue, the psychiatrist moved abroad eleven years ago."

Holding his phone, Hamilton let out a cold laugh. When he spoke again, his voice was chillingly cold.

"Bring Patrick out. I want to see Patrick."
