Chapter 50
Lola POV
F*cking great. I unwrap my legs from the rogue's head and put my hands up in a surrendering motion. The other 2 conscious rogues seem to be contemplating their options, not that they have any. The fact that they haven't shot us already is a miracle on its own and it'd be best for them to comply now.
One of the rogues sneakily inches towards me with his hands up in surrender, but the biggest guy from the Royal guards - the one who told us to stop - seems to notice as he bellows "LAST WARNING ROGUE! I WON'T GIVE ANOTHER!" but the rogue lunges towards me in an attempt to use me as a shield, before a gunshot is heard and the rogue drops dead a few inches from my feet.
The other rogue tries to run the opposite direction and is also immediately shot. Well, that went well for them, I think to myself. The big guy - he must be the Beta by the size of him - then approaches me with a dozen of his guards. "Cuff them both and bring them in for questioning" he orders the guards.
F*ckkkkk, no!!" Sir, please just let me go, I haven't passed the border. In fact it wasn't even my intention to come near, but I was being chased and had nowhere else to run to".
He has a stoic expression I am unable to read. He replies "there are 2 dead rogues inside our border, 2 dead outside our border, one unconscious and you are the only one standing to tell the tale at the moment. You are coming in for questioning" with a finality and order in his voice that is hard to miss.
Well I do not want to f*ck with the Royal guards so it seems I have no choice. Hopefully, after relaying the story, I will be on my way again.
The rogue and I are both cuffed before we are ushered into a vehicle. The big guy who I am assuming is the beta is in the passenger seat upfront, while one of the guards drives the vehicle. The ride seems to take forever as we pass truly beautiful scenery along the way.
If only this had been better circumstances I would have really enjoyed the beautiful forest, lakes and flower fields we have passed along the way. I am broken from my train of thought when the beta starts questioning me, "Where are you from? And why are you a rogue?
You do know it is very dangerous for female rogues out there?". I snort "yeah I have figured that out" I mumble softly, but of course with our heightened wolf senses he heard me."
So, why are you a rogue? And how long have you been out there?". "Look, no offense, sir, but I would rather not talk about my personal circumstances. I will answer any questions regarding the situation at your border that you may have but I won't get into my personal information". He seems taken aback by my answer. Thinking about it, it might not be the best idea to be rude to the beta of the Royal Kingdom. But then again, I really don't want to answer any personal questions and have them find out who I am and where I am from. What if they find out who I am and send me back or something? Or contact alpha Culio regarding me? I can't have that happen. The remainder of the ride is silent, the Beta's eyes occasionally glaze over, indicating he is mind linking with someone. Once we reach the Royal palace I am beyond stunned by its beauty. I have heard of and of course expected the Royal palace to be next level, but nothing could have prepared me for this.
Just what we can see from the front the palace is massive beyond words. I don't know how much ground the entire palace is covering, but I am guessing it would take a day or so to travel through by foot from front to back if the backyard is equally big. Talk about filthy rich and uneven distribution of wealth in the world, I think to myself. The outside of the palace gives off French vibes with its beautiful white stone walls and white pillars everywhere. The building is three stories high and has a dark colored roof, which is in magnificent contrast to the rest of the building.
Statues of massive wolves are situated on both sides of the driveway leading up to the house, and the building itself is also decorated with carvings of wolves and former Royals.
The front of the palace isn't highly guarded to my surprise, but as a lot of the guards and the Royal family are Lycans, I guess they don't need to have many guards present there.
Lycans are that much superior to us regular wolves that we are no match to them. Even most of their omegas could outpower many normal Alpha werewolves. It is why the Royal army is so feared, and why packs would not dare defy orders of the King. The car comes to a halt at the front of the palace and the unconscious rogue is dragged out, while I am being escorted out of the car by a guard.
I can't tell the difference between normal werewolves and Lycans, but by the size of him I am guessing my guard is a Lycan. If I wasn't slightly nervous about my predicament, I would have started a jibber-jabber conversation with him just to mess with his stoic expression, but as we got closer to the front of the palace, my nerves continued to grow.
Remember don't tell them about me, tell them I am dormant after a personal event or something convincing. Trust no one.novelbin
I am going to retract as far back as I can now, so they will hopefully not be able to sense me at all, or very slightly and believe I am dormant'. 'Ok' is all I reply to Liberty as I am ushered into the building.
