Fated is overrated

Chapter 58

Zane

POV

I can't believe this conversation is going the way it currently is. My parents seem to have gone mental. Who the f*ck cares why she is a rogue?! All rogues are filth, a bane of our wolf existence. And mother has willingly brought one within our walls, our Alpha floor even! With father's aura already out, I can't say this however.

Unless I want to be schooled by him and his wolf. I link Zeke, knowing he is on the same page as I am, 'are you getting this?! What the f*ck is wrong with them?

They brought the enemy right into our home, on our floor! And they are acting as if we are in the wrong?'. 'Yeah, this doesn't sit well with me at all' he growls back.novelbin

Out of the two of us, I am the most vocal and impulsive one. Zeke is normally the more diplomatic one and less vocal about things, but in this case I know he is equally infuriated as I am.

Father going as far as to tell us we are not worthy of being Kings yet, it pisses me off even further. All of this over a rogue? Has he forgotten what rogues are and what they do? How they turn feral?

I link my brother with the genius plan I have come up with, time to get rid of this pestering weed already, as I have a hunch mom is not going to let her walk out tomorrow just like that. 'I have a plan. Just roll with it, OK? Act as peachy as can be for now'. 'What?!' 'Just trust me on this one. We will get her out, but we need to gain her trust first. And in the process, make mom and dad think we have accepted it, so there won't be any suspicion when she vanishes'. I can see my brother's lip twitch up in a small smile from the corner of my eye.

'OK let's go'. Zeke clears his throat before addressing mom and dad "you know what, you are both right. It is not fair of us to judge a book by its cover. We apologize, and we promise to do better.

We will apologize to her as well before she leaves, which is tomorrow I assume?". Mom looks at Zeke with narrowed eyes "pup, you know I can tell when you are lying, or have you forgotten? I know you don't mean your words right now, but get your act together and stand by your words regardless.

I hope in time you will understand the essence of it all". I resist the urge to roll my eyes, yeah, sure thing mom. She doesn't reply as to when she will be leaving, which she does purposefully, so Zeke and I know enough already. She is planning on letting her stay for longer. We fall silent for a while, waiting for dinner to be served, when the pestering weed itself comes walking in hesitantly. She seems to have showered and is wearing a black dress that is clinging to her body with a slit on one side and wearing pumps, which I am sure mom has arranged for her.

She does clean up OK, if she wasn't a filthy rogue, I might have even found her appealing with her curvy body, long wavy hair and green eyes that are sparkling when she looks at mom. Nonetheless, she is a rogue. And the hate for rogues runs deep. "You look marvelous dear! Please have a seat anywhere you would like". She looks at the seating arrangement hesitantly, as the only option is to sit either beside Zeke or myself, or at the other head of the table, which I am sure she isn't bold enough to do. I have to remind myself to act nicely and not glare at her any chance I get, we need to gain her trust. I reign in my burning hate and slide out the chair next to me, indicating she can sit there. Her eyes look at me warily and I can tell she really doesn't want to, but she can't be outright disrespectful by declining the offer either, so she moves over to my end and takes the seat.

"Thank you, your highness, for inviting me to dinner. It really wasn't necessary" she speaks in a sweet voice, as if she is an innocent little child. "Nonsense dear, we are thrilled to have you with us.

Now, let's eat!" mom replies as the maids come walking in with our food. As I spot Zeke glaring at her, I quickly link him" remember, act the part!' and he straightens his expression into a smile. The smile is as fake as can be, but the rogue won't be able to tell. The dinner continues in silence for a while, until Zeke finds the strength to act interested and speaks up "so, Lola, where are you from and why did you leave?". She stiffens. Either from the question, or the fact that Zeke would ask her a question at all, I don't know. "I am from Red Dagger. The reason why I left is kind of personal". "Ahhhh yes I know that pack - or at least the future alpha Chris. Good guy. For a normal werewolf." I chime in. She looks at me and I swear I can see a hint of anger in her eyes, before she just resumes her dinner in silence without responding,

Rude much." So, are they aware you are here?". Again I see a clear hint of anger, but also fear, in her eyes. Bingo! "No they are not.

And as I have no interest in returning, I would like to keep it that way" she smiles, but the smile is as fake as Zeke's. As she returns to her food, Zeke links me, snickering 'looks like dear Chris should pay us a visit soon'. 'You read my mind brother' I smile to myself.
