His Cure

Chapter 19 Truth or Dare?

~

“Is the offer still up?”he spreads his lips and gulped down, nervously.

She flashed her eyes at him before bursting into laughter.

“Nah, fine boy. Just continue being an innocent boy that you are.”she chuckles.

He wore a discontented look and directs his gaze to the floor.

“Boy, how old are you?”she taunted.

He snaps his head up at her and wrinkled his face up in wrath.

That definitely hurts his ego.

“Wait.. are you.. feeling?.. what’s this feeling, you feeling hurt?”she uttered in sarcasm.

He sighed and looked sideways.

“I’d better repeat that then since it’s the only way to make you feel inferior, hahaha.”she laughs.

He targets his angry eyeballs at her.

“Repeat that and I would continuously repeat not paying you your dues and you won’t get an entrance to ever leave.”he threatened within gnashed teeth.

Her laughter closed up and she massaged her neck.

Probably she took it too far.

“Well, that was just a petty joke.”she tried to soften the poisonous atmosphere.

“What I just said was petty too.”he smirks.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t joke about too much.”his words gave her this heebie-jeebies feeling.

He was right.

She shouldn’t joke around, forgetting the danger that lurks around her, forgetting he is a man whose mask she is yet to remove.

She doesn’t know him, and so she has to be careful.

However, he is indeed chameleonic himself.

He pulls her in and pulls her out.

For a moment, he made her thought she shouldn’t be scared around him, that they were both humans.

And, another moment, he made her thought they are different. Maybe she is a human, and he is someone not near that?

Or, he is rich?, and she is just a low – life b! tch?

What if this man sitting before her is actually who she didn’t think him to be?

What if he is really a werewolf?, a vampire?

Unfortunately, she sleeps quite soundly and digging his fangs or elongated teeth into her skin while asleep wouldn’t be so hard.

Just the thought of it is scaring her to the bones.

She swallowed a lump down out of fear.

She really needs to be careful around him.

Besides, she seems to be forgetting that she is stuck here with him.

“You want coffee?”he asks.

Huh?

She prinked up at him and saw his gaze peering keenly at her.

This man, whose identity she is yet to identify, is something else.

“N_no.”she stuttered.

“Why?. Don’t reject me.”his voice was sweet.

He stifled a laugh and stood up.

“I will make you one then. You’ve been working so hard and you deserve a pat on the shoulder.”he circled round her and she shifted her neck to look at his moves so as not to experience any unexpected attack.

She studied him as he made a cup of coffee for her and came to drop it before her then went back to his previous sitting position.

She looks down at the steaming coffee and blinked.

Why exactly is he doing this?

Is he tryna keep her out, or in?

Or.. she stole a glance at him.

Is he tryna kill her and suck her blood?

What if he’d actually put something inside this coffee?

A million thoughts ran around in her mind.

“You not drinking?”

She sighed.

“I.. I don’t like coffee.. really..”she pinched herself on her waist for having to falter.

“You said you didn’t like milk, I didn’t put it there.”he smiled.

She flashed him a nervous smile and nodded.

“I did said that, but maybe I forgot to tell you that I don’t fancy drinking coffee in the morning.”

“Morning?, really?.”he glanced at the wall clock.

“It’s past twelve now, so we are now in the afternoon, author.”

She sucked her lips in as goosebumps rose up on her skin.

Is he truly trying to get her killed?

Why is he so persistent about her drinking the coffee?

“I.. I’ll pass. I don’t seem to be in a mood for coffee right now. Maybe later.”she pushed the cup to the side.

“I didn’t know coffee requires mood, my bad.”

“Ah, it’s fine. I.. will continue reading the story now.”she said.

“No, no need.”he shook his head.

“Pardon?”a slow scoff passed out of her mouth.

“I’m totally healed now,..”

“So, I can leave.”her face brightened up in excitement.

“Maybe you got me wrong. Healed for the moment..”he corrected.

The bright colors in her eyes all died down.

She thought he is fully healed and she could go home.

Geez.

“How about we play a game?”he suggested, folding his arms on his chest.

Game?

That doesn’t sounds good.

Is he trying to play a game of life and death with her?

She sprang up immediately.

“Since you’re fine for the moment, I think it’s a great idea that I go out to stockpile some chapters.”

“Sit.”that doesn’t sound like a request, but an order.

And since it was an order from her dangerous boss who could kill her with just a snap of his fingers, she complied and sat down gently.

There is really no way out for her, hun?

“Won’t you ask me what the game is about?”

She rubbed her watery palms together and tried to stabilize the unstable beatings of her heart.

“What.. what’s the game about?”she swallowed hard.

“Truth or Dare.”he chuckled.

Her eyes popped out of its sockets.

Truth or Dare?

What if he dares her to strip before him?

No–What if he dares her to slit up her own throat?

Oh.. no. He definitely wouldn’t be that crazy.

*But you don’t know him!*her inner mind yelled.

Oh, yeah, yeah. She doesn’t.

Ugh!

Why is he doing this to her?

“Pick one. Is it Truth, or Dare?”

She’d better pick Truth.

“Uhm.. tru..”she stopped.

He raised a brow at her house, quizzically.

“Bottle.. you have to spin a bottle so..”she demonstrated.

“Oh, yeah, totally forgot about that.”he grabbed a bottled water which was half filled with water from the table beside him and gulped all of the water down.

He stood up and walked leisurely towards her.

She shifted back on the chair, making it give a screeching sound.

He sat opposite her and placed the bottle down on the desk.

“You ready?”

Why does he scent like Daniel?

“I will spin it now.”he spinned the bottle and it rotated around and finally stopped in front of him.

Hm?

“Oh..”he chuckled and look up at her.

“So… Truth or Dare?”

“Truth.”he responded.

Maybe this is a good way to ask about his identity.

She sat up properly, carried the cup of coffee and took a quick sip in order to help relax her mind.

The determination she made minutes ago that she wasn’t going to drink that has eludes her memory.

“Who are you really?, IntrovertBoy.”
