Chapter 19
Their Kindness
Benjamin said, "If you agree, I will let you go."
Harper pressed her lips, feeling somewhat unwilling.
Benjamin continued, "Say yes. You know that a man's reaction is the greatest in the morning."
Harper was not an innocent girl. She knew well what he meant.
She thought, "How could he be so shameless?"
Her cheeks were flushed, but Benjamin suddenly leaned over to kiss her. Harper reacted quickly. She tilted her head to avoid his kiss and said, "I know." "You know what? Say it clearly, Harper."
"I know your reminder. If I promise you, can you let me go now?" She answered eagerly, fearing that if she delayed for a second, Benjamin would kiss her.
Her reaction annoyed Benjamin. He frowned in displeasure and asked, "Are you afraid that I will kiss you?"
Harper really didn't want to continue this topic, but she dared not to push him, so he could only stay motionless.
She finally didn't answer because Benjamin's mobile phone rang.
Harper thought it was a call from Lauren, so her face immediately turned cold.
Benjamin picked up the phone and got up from Harper. He answered the phone, "Mom?"
"Come to the hospital right away. Paul's condition is not good."
"Okay." Benjamin looked solemn. He lifted the quilt and got out of bed. Then, he said to Harper, "Grandpa has been sent to the hospital. We must go there immediately." Harper's face turned pale. She quickly got up and washed up.
On the way to the hospital, both of them looked very solemn. Harper was worried. Paul treated her very well. He liked her and always stood by her side. Even her parents couldn't treat her that well. While waiting for the traffic light, Benjamin noticed her expression. He held her hand, whispering to comfort her. "Don't worry. Grandpa will be fine."
Harper nodded slightly, but the anxiety in her heart did not diminish a bit.
When they rushed to the hospital, Paul had been sent to the ward from the emergency room. But he was still in a coma.
The doctor said, "Sir Martin is fine for the time being, but it's unknown that when he will wake up. This time, he had a heart attack due to excessive mood swings. He needs to keep a steady mood. Remember not to let him get angry in the future."
Paul had heart disease, high blood pressure, and other age-related diseases.
Scott looked at Benjamin after the doctor left. He said in a low voice, "Benjamin, come out with me."
Harper frowned, looking apologetic and remorseful.
Benjamin looked at her and gently held her hand. "Don't worry. Leave it to me, okay?"
Harper gave a soft hum and nodded.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
But how could she not be worried?
Seeing Paul lying motionless on the hospital bed with an oxygen tube inserted, Harper felt very distressed and guilty. She said in her heart, "Grandpa, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I'm so sorry. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be like this."
Her nose twitched, and tears rolled down her face.
Seeing this, Lily quickly handed over a tissue and comforted Harper in a low voice. "Don't cry, Harper. Paul will feel distressed when he sees you crying. He just wants you and Benjamin to be happy. Anyway, no matter what happens to you and Benjamin, we are always your family."
Harper was moved. She couldn't control her emotions.
She had always known that Paul and Benjamin's parents were very good to her. It was probably because of the friendship between her grandfather and the Martin family, but she could feel that their love and kindness for her were sincere.
Harper cried even more. Lily felt so distressed that she hugged her and patted her back affectionately. "Harper, if you really want to divorce Benjamin, I hope you can think about it carefully. I can also guarantee you, just like Paul said, even if you and Benjamin are divorced, we won't allow him to marry Lauren."
Harper frowned slightly, feeling a little surprised. "Why?"
