Chapter 761: Tina Takes Action
Luke Gill's gentle voice sounded no different from before.
Elsa froze. As Tina pulled her forward, she couldn't help but glance up.
At that moment, Luke Gill walked right toward them.
Two pairs of eyes, once familiar yet now estranged, met. Both froze in place.
The late summer evening breeze was cool, carrying a hint of dampness as it brushed against Elsa's skin. The chill seeped into her bones, but it only fueled the raging fire of hatred burning inside her.
Her tear-swollen eyes, now streaked with crimson, glared at him. Her thin, vein-covered hand clenched into a tight fist. Taking a deep breath of the cold air, she forced two words out through gritted teeth: "Luke Gill."
Her voice, hoarse and venomous, sounded like the growl of a ghost crawling out of hell.
Luke Gill's sharp features remained calm, his aura steady and cold. His gaze swept over Elsa's entire figure, his face betraying no guilt.
The once-glamorous princess of the Dyer family, who had been the envy of every wealthy heir in Ashbury, now looked no different from an ordinary woman on the street.
His brow furrowed slightly, but without a word of apology in his eyes, he simply walked past her.
He stopped in front of Kelly, his voice indifferent. "Let's go."
Kelly gave a subtle nod, feigning curiosity as she turned toward Elsa. "Elsa, do you know my brother-in-law?"
Elsa sneered. Know him?
If it were possible, she would've torn Luke Gill apart with her bare hands to quench the hatred in her heart.
Tina and Jared had just helped the two older family members into the car when they noticed Elsa hadn't followed. They turned back.
Under the searchlights, Luke Gill, dressed in a simple blue shirt, stood out with his sharp, cold features.
Frank Gill, who hadn't left the police station yet, overheard the familiar name. Pressing his lips together, he finally stepped outside to investigate.
Sure enough, he saw Luke Gill and heard Kelly's deliberately provocative question. His dark eyes swept coldly over the scene.
"Luke Gill!"
Tina had never met Luke Gill in person, but she had seen his profile.
The face before her was identical to the one in the photo. Seeing the unhidden hatred radiating from Elsa, Tina quickly pieced together what had happened.
"Miss Bailey," Tina said, her eyes narrowing, her gaze icy as she stared at Kelly. "You don't even know what your own brother-in-law has done? It seems you're not that important in your family after all."
Kelly's expression darkened, but the night concealed her reaction well. She pouted, feigning innocence. "This was an engagement arranged by my father for my sister. I'm not her, so how would I know what her husband did in the past? Unlike Miss Reed-I hear Mr. Farrell was originally engaged to your sister, yet he's now your fiancé."
Jared's dark eyes flickered as he looked down at his wife. "Tina, I think you were right before. Reading too much gossip online really lowers your IQ. I've always been your fiancé, but for some reason, there are fools who insist on tying me to other women. Can I sue them for defamation?"
Tina chuckled softly, not even needing to look to know how sour Kelly's face must be. "I think you could."
"Look at them!" Kelly whined jealously, tugging at Luke Gill's sleeve like a spoiled child. She didn't dare provoke Tina or Jared, so her gaze landed on Elsa instead.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"I just helped Elsa earlier, but Miss Reed, as her friend, is treating me like this?"
Luke Gill subtly pushed Kelly's hand away, finally turning his clear gaze toward Elsa. His voice was calm yet cutting.
"Mrs. Dyer, I didn't expect that after all these years, you'd lose even the most basic manners. Kelly helped you, yet you allow these two to insult her?" "Brother!" Frank Gill's voice was cold, trying to intervene.
But Luke Gill didn't even glance at him, his words like sharp blades. "Mrs. Dyer, I expect you to apologize to Kelly."
Elsa's pupils contracted sharply. It felt like her heart had been struck hard, the pain turning her pale as her lips quivered.
At this point, she felt no lingering affection for Luke Gill.
But the thought of how her misplaced trust in him had led to her parents' suicide still made her heart ache.
"Luke Gill, you're just as shameless as you were ten years ago!"
Luke Gill's expression barely shifted, his voice low. "Throwing insults isn't an excuse not to apologize."
Elsa's anger flared. Just as she was about to retort, Tina stepped forward.
Her foot landed on the step of the police station entrance. With a swift, powerful motion, she leaped into the air, spinning gracefully before her foot connected squarely with Luke Gill's face. Caught off guard, Luke Gill was sent flying backward.
"Ah!"
As Tina landed firmly on her feet, her cold, disdainful gaze fell on Luke Gill. Two words escaped her lips, sharp as ice:
"Pathetic."
Luke Gill lay on the ground, momentarily unable to move. His eyes darkened as Frank Gill rushed to help him up. Shoving his brother's hand away, he stumbled but managed to steady himself.
He approached Tina, his voice strained but composed. "Miss Reed, I've never wronged you. Why would you do this?"
Jared stepped forward, answering on Tina's behalf. "Do we need a reason to hit you?"
Kelly, though secretly thrilled by Luke Gill's humiliation, couldn't stand Jared protecting Tina. Her eyes filled with tears as she cried out, "Miss Reed, how could you? Aren't you afraid of the Bailey family retaliating against the Farrell family?" Elsa, seeing through Kelly's act, snorted coldly. She stepped beside Tina, her voice dripping with malice.
"A dog that lives off the Bailey family's scraps thinks it's worthy of comparing itself to the Farrell family?"
Her cold gaze shifted to Luke Gill.
"And your family... Even the son-in-law is a spineless, ungrateful lapdog. No wonder your father thought you were a match for Ella Bailey. Birds of a feather, I suppose. Today, I've finally seen it for myself."
Her words were like knives, cutting deeply into Luke Gill's pride.
He instinctively stepped back, his guard up. "What are you planning to do?"
Years ago, Elsa had been one of the most talented individuals in the hidden families. If she decided to attack him now, neither Kelly, the useless one, nor Frank, the turncoat, could stop her.
Seeing his fear, Elsa chuckled darkly. She laughed at Luke Gill's weakness and at her own foolishness back then.
"Luke Gill, just wait. Everything you've done to me-I'll pay you back a thousandfold. This isn't over. We'll settle this, slowly."
If it weren't for more urgent matters, she would've kicked him in the face just like Tina had.
But not now.
Joseph and Hannah's injuries needed immediate attention. They couldn't afford to waste any more time here. "Tina, let's go."
Tina nodded. Before turning away, her sharp gaze swept over Luke Gill and Kelly one last time.
Both of them felt a chill run down their spines, cold sweat breaking out as they watched her leave.
