Chapter 3287 Plans
A faint smile crossed Mortimer's face as he spoke, "Haven't we been clearing out the village with Night Vines over the last few days? I hadn't removed it ever since."
Matthew nodded in understanding. Before, the Black Pigeons had kept him from entering Montiria, so he and Mortimer had already planned to use Mortimer's supposed injury to lure out those hiding in the shadows before the latter's departure with the Alliance. "Matthew, I assume you called me here because of the situation in Montiria?" Mortimer asked.
The news had spread quickly throughout Montiria-Aelion, leader of the Aerial Legion, had led the Flying Armor in a rebellion, storming the palace. While they were suppressed, King Gadel disappeared, throwing the entire kingdom into chaos. If Matthew hadn't arrived in time, Fiorenna would have likely been forced out of the palace.
"Yes, Mortimer," Matthew said, his expression serious. "You've seen how things are in Montiria. We need to stabilize the situation until Gadel returns."
If the unrest continued, neighboring countries wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of Montiria's weakness.
Mortimer nodded, fully understanding the gravity of the situation. "I'll support your plan."Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Matthew felt a surge of gratitude. Mortimer had traveled from afar to help and was now ready to step in and assist. Even Matthew felt a twinge of guilt for dragging him into such a mess. Meanwhile, Fiorenna sat in a pavilion in the palace harem, holding her child with a blank expression. She had lost Gadel, her rock, and seemed lost herself, barely noticing her child's smile. Following the maidservant's lead, Matthew approached the pavilion. He sat across from Fiorenna and called softly, "Queen Fiorenna?"
But she didn't respond, her mind still distant. Matthew glanced helplessly at the maidservant.
The maid leaned over, gently touching Fiorenna's shoulder and whispering, "Your Highness, the Prime Regent is here to speak with you."
At her touch, Fiorenna slowly came
back to herself and gave a faint, apologetic smile after seeing Matthew sitting across from her. "I'm sorry, Prime Regent. I didn't realize you were here."
Her voice was hoarse, drained of energy.
Matthew sighed inwardly. Gadel's disappearance had clearly left her feeling adrift. "Queen Fiorenna, the people are growing more anxious by the day with Gadel missing. Our first
priority is to calm them
Fiorenna pushed herself to focus. "Do you have a plan, Prime Regent?"
"Tomorrow, I'll hold a press conference to announce that Montiria will be managed by the two of us until Gadel returns. But the two of us won't be enough to keep things stable, so I've asked Mortimer Zedler to join us. He'll be appointed as Grandmaster to help calm the people. You will be the overseer, I'll handle control, and Mortimer will manage operations."
Matthew paused for a moment, then added, "Of course, if you want to assign someone else to take over later, we can arrange that. Our names can simply remain as figureheads." He had clearly thought everything through, planning for every possible outcome.
