Chapter 3457 Casimir Seeks to Submit
"You can't be serious," Casimir asked with a bitter smile, his face ashen. Then, taking a deep breath, he dropped to his knees. "Casimir Falkrenn of the Emberhold Syndicate submits to you, my lord!"
Any thought of resistance had long since drained from Casimir. His heart was heavy with despair. Years of planning, all reduced to ashes in a single day. Matthew had effortlessly killed the Medusa Emissary, and Casimir knew that if Matthew wished, he could do the same to him.
The members of the Emberhold Syndicate surrounding the docks stared in shock.
"What is the chief doing?"
"Why is he kneeling to that guy? We have the numbers!"
"So... do we keep holding our positions?" one member asked uncertainly, and silence fell over the group.
"If the chief is kneeling, what choice do we have?"
With Casimir kneeling in submission, the three or four thousand men of the Emberhold Syndicate dropped to their knees as well. An intense silence blanketed the scene as everyone awaited Matthew's response.
The men of the Veiled Assembly held their breaths, gazing at Matthew with admiration and respect, while Allyson's eyes instinctively turned to him.
"You're a smart man, Falkrenn," Matthew said with a slight smile, watching Casimir bow his head in silence.
"I was blind before, following the wrong path. Now, I am willing to change my ways," Casimir said, pressing his forehead to the ground. All he wanted now was to survive; everything else had lost its importance. Matthew didn't respond to Casimir. Instead, he turned to Allyson with a subtle smile. "Miss Ashcroft, I leave Casimir to you."
Allyson blinked, taken aback. He's...
just giving him to me? But when she
looked at Casimir, a flood of emotions washed over her, and her eyes glistened with unshed tears She had spent years building her forces, driven by her father's memory, hiding behind a facade of cold resilience. And now her chance for revenge was handed to her so simply. novelbin
Casimir's face went even paler at Matthew's words. He lifted his head, desperation flooding his eyes as he called to Matthew's back. "My lord, I can still be of use to you! I know many secrets... I can even reveal the late governor's closely guarded secrets!" Casimir's offer made Allyson's heart skip. Would this mysterious man still let her take revenge, or would he be swayed by Casimir's desperate promises?
Matthew, however, paid Casimir no mind. Instead, he turned back to Allyson, "Miss Ashcroft, aren't you going to make your move?"
Matthew's words snapped Allyson
out of her daze. She glanced at him-tall, composed, his silence carrying a quiet strength. Her mind buzzed with emotions as she gazed at Casimir, kneeling and defenseless before her. A thought crept in once Casimir was dead and her father avenged, perhaps she could finally live a normal life... maybe even marry, raise a family.
At that, her gaze drifted to Matthew for a moment. He didn't say much, but there was something solid and trustworthy about him.
Matthew's words snapped Allyson
out of her daze. She looked at him, feeling a swirl of emotions, then shifted her gaze to Casimir, kneeling before her. Perhaps once I avenge my father by killing Casimir, I can let go, start fresh... maybe even find a normal life someday, she thought, imagining a peaceful future.
Casting a brief glance at Matthew, Allyson noted his quiet strength and unassuming nature. There was something appealing in his demeanor. With a newfound resolve, Allyson approached Casimir, her gaze filled with cold fury. "Casimir Falkrenn, did you ever think this day would come?" Casimir looked up at her, his face drained of color. He met her gaze, a twisted smile on his lips. "Come closer, and I'll tell you a little secret."
