Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1174

King felt like a gong had been struck inside his head, staring at her in disbelief.

The brief flicker of panic in Brielle's eyes had vanished, replaced by a cool calmness.

The mudslide raged on, the massive tree threatening to topple over.

King lowered his lashes, lips pressed together, looking almost pitiful.

"Who were you calling out to just now?"

His voice was rough, her hand gripping his tightly.

"King, don't let go."

King managed a small smile, his fingers intertwining with hers. "Alright."

He had thought she despised him with every fiber of her being, yet here she was, willing to risk it all to keep him alive.

None of them moved; it was as if life and death no longer held any meaning.

The piercing alarms continued to wail, but the chaos around them seemed distant, irrelevant.novelbin

The whir of helicopter blades cut through the air again, and a helicopter hovered above them.

Raymond poked his head out, his brow furrowed in frustration.

"What are you all waiting for?!"

Another helicopter, with Sarah aboard, approached and lowered a ladder.

Dustin was the first to snap out of it, a flash of relief crossing his face.

He wrapped an arm around Brielle and grabbed King with the other.

As the tree came crashing down, he and King took the brunt of the force together, shielding Brielle. Fortunately, since they were clinging to the ladder, they weren't swept away by the powerful current - otherwise, they would've been goners. Brielle was well-protected, but a previous blow to her head by a rock left her dazed and confused.

Together, the two men lifted Brielle up to safety.

Once inside the helicopter, King could no longer focus on anything else, holding Brielle tightly, his voice thick with emotion. "Brielle."

Amidst the blaring sirens and the chaos of gunfire and turbulent lands, his voice was especially tender.

"You called out my name just now, didn't you?"

Brielle looked at his face, wanting to respond, but the pain in her head was too much, and she passed out. King held her even closer, refusing to let go.

The helicopters didn't come under attack; upon closer look, one could see a large chess piece symbol

emblazoned on both hers.

This was the flag of the International Coalition.

King nuzzled his face against Brielle's neck, a smile creeping onto his lips.

From the other helicopter, Raymond watched the man, his expression darkening.

Raymond was aware of Brielle's relationship with Max, but he had no idea about the dual personality.

So, in his eyes, it was Max being overly affectionate with Brielle.

He snorted and turned his head away, signaling the pilot to speed up.

Sitting opposite King, Sarah appeared calm, but a closer look revealed her trembling fingertips.

Not just her fingertips, but her heart was also quivering, her mind replaying that one word, "Mom." Son-in-law?

Her daughter's boyfriend?

How could this be?!

King, oblivious to the others, continued to hold Brielle, the smile on his lips persistent.

She had called out his name.

She wanted to live alongside him.

But then, his smile faded slightly, pondering if it was because if he died, Max would too.

His eyes grew moist, yet he didn't let go.

The helicopter made its way to the hospital.

All the while, governments from several nations were already aware of the situation.

Dustin and King, being the heads of two major corporations, were virtually walking gold mines. If these countries got any dirt on them, the diamond and oil resources would be exploited even more.

But the area was hit by a mudslide. accompanied by a wildfire that

seemed to come out t

creating chaos that could burn everything to ashes.
