Chapter 41: New Friends
Chapter 41: New Friends
I decided to wear a casual outfit to the party: jeans and a dark blue blouse that says, 'I decided to be
awesome today!' If only the world knew. I hoped there would atleast be some food at the party,
because I was starving. I hadn't eaten a lot today, and I was sure that Sarah would skip dinner because
of the party. But hey, it's a birthday party, they must have food! A knock at the door dragged me out of
my brief thoughts and I went to open the door. Liam was standing in my doorway, a small patch of
moon light seemed almost like a halo around his beautiful head, with luscious curls. He was definitely
an angel. "Hey." Liam said before I could say anything. He was wearing a designer shirt and some
casual jeans and black boots. He looked even more handsome than before, which didn't even seem
possible. A maverick strand of his black, mostly curly hair was in his face and it took everything out of
me to not just put it back into place. "Hi. Come in." I told him and he stepped inside the room. I
suddenly got conscious of how untidy the room I was staying in was. "It's not always like this." I
grabbed a blouse from my bed, and a lone dress and kicked a pair of sneakers under my bed. Liam
looked as if he were about to laugh and I stiffled a giggle myself. I'm not the best person at keeping
stuff clean. "I swear my room isn't this dirty." I said after I had finished getting majority of the clothes
and articles in their correct place, or under my bed. "I assume my mother mentioned Audra's birthday
party." Liam said, changing the subject abruptly and I nodded. "I don't know what she told you, but I
understand if you don't want to go. It's been a long day-" Liam continued but I interrupted. "I understand
that, but I'm fine. I'm okay, Liam." I tried to assure him that I was fine and he simply nodded. "I'll take
you, to the party. I don't want anything to happen to you. I wouldn't forgive myself." He said, and shook
his head, as if clearing his thoughts. It was strange, that he cared so much about me, even though he
didn't even know me that well. It was like, for some unknown reason to me, I meant much more to him
than he could describe.
I walked towards the well lit house, with Liam close by my side. We had drove here, even though the
house was within walking distance: Liam said that he couldn't risk us getting attacked again, and he
didn't want me to slip in the dark and sprain my ankle. Even though I knew Liam was being dramatic, it
still felt nice to have someone care about my wellbeing. Anyways, back to the house the party was
being hosted. People were streaming all about, around the yard. They were either talking in groups or
individually, or laughing out loud or eating. My mind flashed on my bestfriend. Was she here? "Did
Spencer come to the party?" I decided to ask Liam. Spencer didn't like associating with strangers at all,
worse, socializing with them. It was unlikely that she would be here. "She's here alright. In fact, she
came here early to help Mel with the preparations for the party." Liam stated. I kept quiet as my brain
soaked up the information. I wasn't aware that Spencer knew Melanie. I had only met her recently but it
seemed as if Spencer had met her before me. I moved quickly through the crowds of people but I
seemed to be invisible: I got my toes stepped on, even through my sneakers, and people kept shoving Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
me, but they completely respected Liam's space. They steered clear of him, and some of them even
bowed to him. Take about privilege. I approached the front door and finally saw a familiar face. Sarah!
"Hey doll. I'm so glad you could come." Sarah pulled me into a hug, smiling. She saw Liam and gave
him a sharp, playful glare. "You don't need to be following the poor girl around, all the time. Give her
some space. Why don't you go talk to your cousin, over there?" Sarah pointed to a red head boy who
was in conversation with a very beautiful girl. They seemed to be dating because the guy kept touching
her cheek and she was laughing and playfully slapping his chest. "You haven't seen him in almost a
year, go talk to him." Sarah continued and I heard Liam groan. He probably didn't want to go over to his
cousin and his girlfriend and be a third wheel, but arguing with Sarah didn't seem like the best option.
Well, not if he wanted to die. Liam walked over to his cousin and Sarah dragged me into the house,
with her arm wrapped around my arm. "Where are we going?" I asked Sarah as she pulled me through
the house. She looked back briefly at me then turned back to the direction she was pulling me. "Oh, I'm
just going to bring you to meet some friends of mine. They really want to meet you." Sarah said over
her shoulder. "Okay." I replied. We entered a room that seemed fit to be called a living room. A woman
with red, fiery hair was seated on a couch, and a man with her black hair was beside her. A little girl
with red hair was sitting at a smaller chair, with a huge present in her hand. She was smiling really
hard. I assumed she was the one having the birthday party. "Sarah!" The woman rose from the couch
with a huge smile on her face, showing pearly white teeth. Then she saw me. "You must be Emerald,
Liam's girlfriend. I have heard so much about you!" She exclaimed and I gulped in surprise and slight
fear. What have I gotten myself into?
