Chapter 1338
In an instant, Rosa felt as if she were facing a serious threat.
There had never been any trace of another woman's scent on Joe before. Rosa had always been on high alert, closely monitoring everything about him.
For more than three years, he had focused solely on his career, maintaining a cold distance not only from her but from everyone else.
She had even seen company secretaries or employees try to flirt with him, but none had ever succeeded. Their consequences were always pitiful. He simply wouldn't let anyone get close.
So, was it Skylar? Had they met today?
It could only mean one thing if they had each other's scent on them.
No wonder she had only seen Gloria today and not Skylar. Joe and Skylar must have been off somewhere together.
They must have slept together!
At this thought, Rosa started losing her composure. She just stared blankly at Joe as he walked ahead.
"Ned, did you meet someone today? You have a perfume scent on you," she ran up to him, gripping his arm tightly, her face full of obsession.
If it was Skylar, what would she do next? Everyone would mock her, even Skylar. Now, she must be feeling triumphant.
Joe was forced to stop. He turned to look at Rosa.
His gaze made her heart sink with inexplicable panic, making her regret the question instantly. She thought that it wasn't the time for confrontation.
If Joe admitted it, what would she do? It would make everything unbearably awkward.
So, just as Joe was about to respond, she quickly changed the subject. "Go wash your hands and change your clothes, then come eat. The food's been ready for a while, and it'll get cold if we wait any longer."
"Some things can wait until after your surgery. I'll go wash up first," Joe replied in a low voice.
Rosa stood frozen on the spot. Some things? What things?
A sudden ominous feeling crept over her.
She sensed an implication in Joe's words-that he wanted to end their relationship. Even if he hadn't regained his memories, he had fallen for Skylar. No, that couldn't happen. Absolutely not.
At that moment, a storm was brewing in Rosa's mind.
But by the time Joe came out of the bathroom, she had regained her composure.
"Food's ready. I learned two of these
recipes online, so I'm not sure how they turned out. Try them and let me know. She smiled warmly, stiff wearing her apron like the perfect housewife.
"Okay, let me try," Joe replied as he sat down and looked at the dishes on the table.
He had told Rosa before that she didn't have to come over and cook for him. One reason was that her cooking didn't match his tastes, and another was that she talked too much at times.
But she hadn't listened.
Sometimes, he wondered if it was

his imagination, but when he came home from work, he would feel like someone was waiting for him. Sometimes, he would feel like the meals prepared were just to his taste.
But everything seemed more like a fantasy.

Rosa couldn't help but watch him closely as he tasted the food. "How is it? The online tutorial was very detailed, and I followed every step exactly. I haven't tasted it myself yet, but it looks pretty good."
"Not bad," Joe confirmed.
Rosa's face lit up with joy as she said, "That's wonderful! I'll keep cooking for you, then."
Then, she immediately took a bite herself.
