Chapter 39
She gulps down nothing as she stands up from the bed, trying to keep her sleepy eyes open.
“Evelyn threw me out…” She mumbles under her breath, but still loud enough for him to hear her, and he can’t help the scoff that tears through his lips. What the hell was she expecting? That Evelyn will still allow her to stay in that house after what happened? She must really be dumb.
“And how’s that got to do with you being in my house? Were you expecting her to still allow you to live under the same roof with her after what happened?” He snaps at her, and she bites her bottom lip. He’s right, anyway. She was too foolish to have expected her to still let her stay there.NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
“Look, I have nowhere else to go…”
“And how’s that my business? Does it look like I give a damn about that? I’m yet to clear the mess you caused, and you want to get me into more trouble?” He sneers at her, and she flinches as her heart misses a beat. Tears brim in her eyes before they stream down her cheeks as she stares down at her foot. This was the same man that prophesied love to her, the same man that told her he was single some months ago which made her agree to date him. He was the one that caused all this mess, why the hell is he blaming her for everything now?
“What you’re doing is not fair, Raymond. You’re hurting me, you know?” She finally speaks up, raising her gaze to look at him with pain written all over her.
“Do you know what is not fair? Having affair with your cousin’s boyfriend. Betraying your cousin that did nothing but treat you like her own sister…”
“Just shut the fuck up, Raymond. We both know that I never knew Eve was your girlfriend… You fucking told me you were single. This is all your fault…”
“You seduced me, you bitch!” He cuts her off and she sighs briefly.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m a bitch, I’m a slut, just fucking call me whatever you want to. Where do you expect me to go from here? You want me to end up in the street? I don’t even have any money on me,” She says painfully and he scoffs.
“Anywhere, but my house. You’re not welcome here, and you should find your way out. I don’t care if you end up in the street, that’s where you belong, anyway. Just get the hell out of my house!” He yells at the top of his voice, and she sighs briefly.
“To where?” The pain in her voice as she asks him that question with tears in her eyes, but he doesn’t give a damn about her emotions. All he cares about at the moment is how to get his girlfriend back. He can’t lose Evelyn, he loves her so much and can’t afford to lose her.
“I’ll give you some money to lodge in a hotel, and you’ll find your way from there. I can’t allow you to stay here with me. I’ll ask my maid to make you something to eat. You can leave afterward,” He says with his voice void of emotions. Turning around, he walks out of the room wordlessly, banging the door behind him.
Slumping on the edge of the bed, more tears stream down her cheeks as she buries her face in her palms. Where the hell is she supposed to go from here? How much will he possibly give her that’ll be enough to lodge in a hotel? For how long will she live there?
“You’re an asshole, Skylar. You don’t fucking deserve any good thing,” She curses under her breath, throwing her head back in pain. Memories of the old days flood her mind. Maybe she would’ve found solace in Jayden or Joe if she had not hurt them in the past. She’s not ready to face the two friends after what she did to them in the past. She’s a fucking bitch.
Walking over to the closet where her bag is, she grabs it and rolls it out of the room. It seems like here is not ok for her. What’s the point of waiting to eat?
Descending the staircase a few minutes later, she stops on her track when she sees Raymond in the living room, pressing his phone. The way he acts like she’s not even in the building makes her doubt if this is the same dude that was all crazy about her some months ago.
He raises his gaze from his phone once he notices her presence, and a thin line appears between his eyebrows when he sees her with her bag, but the line suddenly disappears.
“Oh, you’re ready to go?” The excitement in his voice as he stands up to his feet, and reaches out for his wallet in his back pocket.
“Hmm,” She nods her head, trying so hard not to burst into another round of tears.
“Here is a thousand dollars. I guess this will go a long way for you,” He says as he counts ten one hundred dollars, and hands it to her.
“Thank you,” She mutters as she takes the money from him before she walks out of the house finally. As much as she didn’t want to collect the money, she knew she had no option. So what’s the point of playing tough?
Standing at the roadside minutes later, she flags down a cab that takes her to the hotel where she lodges.
Stepping into the single room minutes later, she drops her bag close to the small bed and slumps on it afterward. Since she doesn’t have much money with her, it’s only normal that she tries to economize it. Of course, lodging a small room should be fine.
After arranging her bag in the room, she finally dashes into the bathroom to have her bath. Standing under the shower minutes later, the thought of everything Raymond said to her, replays in her head, and she can’t help the scoff that tears through her throat. It’s still a difficult puzzle to solve how that bastard suddenly started treating her like that.
Pushing all the thoughts to the back of her mind, she grabs the white towel in the bathroom once she’s done bathing, and ties it around her chest before she walks back into the room.
Throwing herself on the bed, she stares up at the ceiling and sighs briefly. Looks like she has to start thinking of how to survive by herself henceforth. There’s no way she’s ever going back to Eve. Not after what happened…
