Chapter 426
Greta shot him a look that was as cold as ice, the kind of look that once might have been full of love but was now replaced with nothing but bitterness.
"Do you really hate me so much that you'd rather watch me get hurt by kidnappers than lift a finger to help?" Greta's voice broke as she sobbed, her body still shivering from the memory of what she'd been through. Cameron shook his head frantically, his voice shaky, "I had no idea, really. I thought you were just pulling another trick on me..."
"Happy now? Is this what you wanted?" Greta's anger was palpable, but the physical reminders of her ordeal drained her of the energy to maintain it. Her voice, even when accusing, was weak.
Cameron was utterly bewildered, holding his head as if trying to contain his thoughts, "I don't know what to do, Greta. Please, forgive me. I never meant not to leave you there..."
Suddenly, a thought seemed to strike him, and he lifted his head, his guilt morphing into defensive anger, "You can't pin this on me. You've lied so many times that when you called for help, I thought it was just another one of your stories. How was I supposed to know you were serious?"
A flicker of guilt flashed in Greta's eyes. Then she burst into tears, her sobs theatrical, "What's the use of blaming you now?"
Nathalie watched them tear each other apart and felt a surprising sense of detachment.
She realized she'd been quite foolish. So much time and energy wasted on this pair. It wasn't worth it.
Even if she hadn't sought revenge, Greta's selfishness would have inevitably come to light. It was just a matter of time before Cameron saw her true colors.
Their so-called love was bound to unravel, leading them to go their separate ways. She'd wasted too much energy on them.
Nathalie, like an outsider now,
watched her former enemies face their downfall without a hint of emotion. She finally understood she'd let go of her past grudges.

Nathan, with his love, had healed her. Nathan made her realize she lived for herself, not for anyone else.
Greta caught sight of Nathalie's calm demeanor and felt a surge of anger. Why should Nathalie get to be so unbothered while she was in turmoil?

She charged at Nathalie, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her, accusing her, "Nathalie, it was you wasn't it? You're behind this kidnapping. If you wanted revenge, why not just finish me off yourself..."
Cameron's heart ached at Greta's broken state. He glared at Nathalie, "Nathalie, how could you sink so low to get back at Greta?"
Nathalie rolled her eyes, "Cameron, can you use your brain? You buy into whatever she says, no wonder she's got you wrapped around her little finger."
Cameron snapped, "Got any proof you weren't part of this kidnapping?"novelbin
Nathalie shrugged, "I don't owe you any explanations."
Greta ranted, "Nathalie, it had to be you. You've always hated me. You told me you wanted me miserable and alone. This is so your style. Cameron, you know how determined she is to get back at us..."
Cameron hesitated, doubt creeping in.
Nathalie sighed, exasperated. She crossed her legs casually, "Greta, while I might have had a motive, I didn't have the chance to pull it off."
