Chapter 37
Gerald seemed to notice something as well and turned around absent-mindedly.
When he saw Nelson, he said, "Nelson."
Nelson's gaze shifted from the surprised Sabrina to Gerald.
He smiled faintly, saying, "Looks like things are going pretty well."
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Gerald told him everything was fine.
Sabrina's voice sounded from the video.
"Gerald, I'll let you return to what you were doing. We'll talk about your questions next time. I'm hanging up."
Gerald hummed in acknowledgment, then turned to look at Nelson.
"Did you quarrel with Sabrina?"
Nelson shook his head.
"No. Why do you ask?"
"It doesn't feel like you're siblings at all."
"Really? Then, what do we look like? Husband and wife?"
Gerald waved his hand.
"Not at all. If Sabrina were your wife, you would be even more clingy than me. Several times, I saw you lost in thought while staring at her. Were you captivated by her that night at the club—"
"That's enough for now. What do you know?" Nelson interrupted him.
He turned to leave, but Gerald caught up.
"I thought you were going to tell me about that man."
Nelson watched as Gerald tried pushing his luck with him.
He leisurely lit a cigarette and took a drag, asking, "Why do you want to know who that man is?"
"I feel that Sabrina really likes him. I simply want to know my enemy well. I also want to know who was willing to let her go."
Nelson felt uneasy.
"Don't ask me about this anymore. Let her tell you herself."
He threw the cigarette to the ground and returned to the dinner event. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Gerald watched Nelson leave and felt that he was behaving oddly.
Meanwhile, Sabrina's heart was beating quickly.
After all, they hadn't yet divorced. She felt guilty being caught red-handed while having a video call with Gerald. She feared he would show his nasty side in dealing with her.
She didn't dare to sleep. So, she took a book and notebook downstairs and waited for Nelson. She wanted to know his true thoughts.
She waited for him until midnight, but he hadn't returned. She was too sleepy to move, so she pulled a blanket to cover herself and slept on the couch.
When Nelson returned, he saw the floor lamp in the living room was on.
Despite using a cashmere blanket, the light shone on Sabrina's exposed lower legs. She lay on a pillow with her hair tousled. Her slightly red nose tip and slightly parted red lips weren't obscured from his view. Although she was asleep, her alluring look tempted Nelson to size her up.
Nelson retracted his gaze and picked up a red notebook from the floor.
He flipped through the pages and casually looked through it. He didn't expect her to write down the summary and review of the book she read. It was all handwritten. He couldn't help but look at her again. It was rare to see someone writing book summaries and reviews these days.
After staring at Sabrina for a while, Nelson reached out to gently tap on her shoulder.
Sabrina made a noise and looked at him drowsily, looking confused.
He averted his gaze and asked coldly, "Are you waiting for me?"
Sabrina was somewhat awake.
She wrapped the blanket around herself and sat up, quickly explaining, "As long as we aren't divorced, I won't start a relationship with Gerald."
Nelson remained silent. He sat across from her, feeling confused. He was unhappy when she was disobedient yet annoyed when she was compliant.
He sighed and fiddled with the ring on his ring finger before calming down.
"Shall I have the lawyer draft the agreement in the next few days?"
Sabrina's gaze was drawn to his ring. She and Nelson didn't have a wedding ring.
With the ring currently on his ring finger, it meant that he acknowledged Pamela as his wife.
Sabrina thought she didn't care anymore, but she still felt hurt.
She had fallen in love with him at first sight when she was 19. It had been seven years since then. For a moment, she was unwilling to accept it. But when she thought of the past three years, she told herself not to torment herself anymore as it was meaningless. After all, there's no forcing it if he no longer had feelings for her.
"Okay."
Nelson didn't say anything but continued fidgeting with his ring.
