Chapter 720 What Did You Do Exactly, Sophia?
Laura walked up to Sophia and said, "Sophia, there are some things you can hide from others, but not
from me. There's no one here, so tell me the truth about how Dr. Glass agreed to come and see Drake.
I want all the details."
Sophia hesitated for a moment before saying, "Mom, please don't ask about this."
"How can I not ask? Sophia, I understand that you made sacrifices for Drake's sake. But at least let me
know what you did," Laura replied.
Sophia remained silent.
Laura didn't want to force her daughter and said gently, "Sophia, think about it. If you tell me everything
now, I can help you. If you try to handle everything on your own without any support from us as your
family..."
"Mom," Sophia interrupted her mother quickly before she could finish her sentence. "I'll tell you
everything... I just promised him..."
Sophia explained the situation to Laura who held her breath in shock for a long time before finally
speaking up.
"Sophia... I thought after all that has happened between Drake and you, things would have gotten
better by now, but fate seems to play tricks on you again," Laura said with sadness in her voice.
"I feel sorry for you... If I were you, I would do the same thing. It's okay, Sophia. I understand and
support your decision! We will get through this together!"
Finally venting out the pent-up emotions she had been holding onto since making this difficult decision,
Sophia hugged Laura tightly as tears streamed down both their faces.
However, since they couldn't stay there too long, Sophia wiped away her tears quickly so no one would
notice anything amiss on their faces, and left with Laura.
As they turned a corner, Sophia thought she saw someone familiar, but it was gone in an instant.
She must have been mistaken. They returned back into the hallway where everyone else was waiting
patiently.
Drake had already been inside for almost two days now, and people were taking turns sleeping outside
his room, but only briefly each time due to limited space available.
Emma and Baron had not slept at all. Sophia walked over and said, "Mom, Dad, Drake won't be
coming out for a while. You should find a place to rest for a bit. If anything happens, I'll let you know
right away."
Emma felt sorry for Sophia and said, "Sophia, don't worry about us not sleeping. Have you slept in the
past two days? You've been running around here and there more than we have. You should go get
some rest!"
Sophia replied confidently, "It's okay. I'm young and can handle it. You guys go get some rest instead
because when Drake wakes up, he will need someone to take care of him."
Emma looked at Sophia meaningfully. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Sophia was uneasy because she knew that Emma understood her just as well as Laura did; what
Laura could see through might not necessarily be hidden from Emma.
Fortunately, Emma agreed with her plan, saying "Okay," then turned to Baron, "Let's go take a break for
a bit so that we can come back later to take care of Drake."
Baron didn't understand at first but noticed the look in Emma's eyes so he nodded his head.
Laura walked over to Sophia and let her head lean on her shoulder, "Sophia, you should get some
sleep now."
"Okay," replied Sophia, closing her eyes, because if she didn't sleep, she would start thinking too much
which she didn't want.
Perhaps due to exhaustion or maybe just luck - either way - after sleeping briefly, they heard voices
outside, causing them both jump up immediately.
It was the doctor who came out but it wasn't Brandon.
The attending physician excitedly exclaimed, "A miracle has happened! Mr. Riley has been revived!"
Sophia along with Laura and Abbott looked at each other with excitement written all over their faces.
"Really?" Aria couldn't believe it and asked incredulously.
The attending physician nodded his head affirmatively, saying, "I couldn't believe it myself but I saw his
body indicators return back normal again, thanks to traditional medical methods."
Overwhelmed by emotions, Sophia hugged Laura tightly, crying tears of joy, "Mom! He's alive! Drake is
finally alive!"
Laura also nodded vigorously, "Yes, Darling. He finally made it through. You've worked hard, Sophia.
All your efforts have paid off."
When everyone calmed down, they remembered asking the doctor when he would wake up completely
or if he could move into another room yet.
"He still needs six hours of observation but everything looks good so far. Don't worry," reassured the
doctor before leaving them alone once again.
After the doctor finished speaking, everyone felt relieved and nodded in agreement.
Sophia turned to Abbott and Laura, "Mom, Dad, why don't you go rest for a while? Aria and I will stay
here."
"Okay!" They didn't refuse. Maybe there would be something they could help with once Drake woke up.
Sophia suggested that Aria and Paul also take a break. Paul said he had things to do, so he could stay
awake while Aria rested.
Aria didn't object.
Emmie had been standing by silently all this time but now she approached Sophia, looking sad. "I'm
sorry, sis. My dad must have disappointed you."
"Don't say that kind of thing," Sophia grabbed her hand reassuringly. "I don't blame you or him at all. As
long as Drake is alive, that's enough for me."
"Sis, I'll talk to my dad," Emmie said earnestly. "You know I don't even know your husband personally;
marrying him in this situation means our marriage won't be happy anyway... I understand my dad wants
the best for me by finding someone who is exceptional but it has to be someone suitable for me too!"
Sophia reached out and tucked her hair behind her ear gently, "Don't worry about it; I believe in you!
Once you see Drake yourself, you'll be irresistibly attracted to him too. Trust me."
"But what's the point of falling in love with him if he won't love me? Why should I bother?" Emmie asked
dejectedly.
Sophia read her mind. If fate dictated that Emmie was meant to spend her life with Drake, then she
would accept it.
"Your worries may not even matter at all; believe me, many things are not as we imagine them."
Emmie shook her head sadly - she used to live carefree on a mountain with just her father before this
woman named Sophia came along and made everything complicated.
Paul walked over and bowed his head respectfully, "Mrs. Riley, why don't you get some sleep too? If
anything comes up, we can tell you right away."
Emmie nodded, "I'll stay here too – You guys go ahead and get some rest."
Sophia looked at Emmie approvingly before nodding as well.
