Austin was now certain that Ned must be Joe. Aiken tapped his fingers on the desk, weighing his options as he picked up his phone to review the recent chat history with Skylar.

He pondered whether he should share this information with her. Just then, a call came in.

“Mr. Parkinson, Ms. Parkinson is still in contact with that poor guy. They just came out of the cinema together.”

Upon hearing this, Aiken’s expression hardened. “Keep following them, but don’t let Simona find out. Find two girls that fit Stephen’s type and have them charm him.”

“Got it, Mr. Parkinson.”

Aiken felt a headache coming on. Simona had been increasingly rebellious lately. She seemed drawn to Stephen Pearce despite claiming she wouldn’t contact him anymore.

Stephen’s troubled background made him unsuitable for Simona. However, Stephen was skilled at putting on a façade and had enough patience to charm her. Simona was still young and easily swayed by such a polished exterior.

With that in mind, Aiken sighed, glancing back at his phone. He stared at Skylar’s profile picture for a moment.

In the end, he decided to send the document along with his suspicions to Skylar.

He could use any means necessary without a second thought when it came to others. No matter how underhanded the methods were, they didn’t matter as long as he achieved his goal. Nothing else was important.

But with Skylar, he didn’t want to resort to such methods. He understood the distance between them all too well. Some thoughts were best kept to himself. He couldn’t risk breaking that fragile barrier.

Moreover, given Skylar’s family background, Steven and Charles would never agree to her being with someone like him, whose background was complicated.

At this hour, Skylar was probably already resting and likely wouldn’t respond. Aiken rubbed his temples before stepping out of his study and dialing Simona’s number.

At the same time, Simona was strolling through the park with Stephen. They had just finished watching a movie. The park was quiet, with only a few nighttime joggers passing by

occasionally.

As they walked, lost in each other’s company, Simona’s phone buzzed–it was Aiken calling. Stephen noticed her staring at the screen without answering.

“Why won’t you pick up?” he asked gently.

Simona bit her lip and said, “He normally doesn’t call this late. I’m worried that he might…”

“Worried about what? Didn’t you say it’s just you and your brother? That he’s always good to you? Maybe he just needs something,” Stephen replied, his voice soft and understanding.

Simona looked at Stephen with a mix of concern and helplessness. She was afraid Aiken would find out she was spending time with Stephen. After all, Aiken didn’t approve of their relationship.

Still, not wanting Aiken to worry, she answered when the second call came through. “Hey, Aiken.”

“Why didn’t you pick up earlier?” Aiken asked.

Simona glanced at Stephen and replied slowly, “Aiken, do you even know what time it is? I’d normally be asleep by now. Luckily for you, I went out with some friends to watch a movie, and now we’re just hanging out at the park.” Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Friends?” Stephen smiled slightly, his eyes soft as he gazed at her. Simona’s heart raced, and she felt her face flush.

“Stay safe. Call me if anything comes up. Come home this Saturday,” Aiken said.

Simona frowned at the mention of Saturday. She had already made plans with Stephen for that day. They were supposed to spend time together, but she couldn’t tell Aiken that. She muttered a vague reply before hanging up.

“When are you going to introduce me to your brother? It doesn’t feel right for us to keep sneaking around like this,” Stephen asked suddenly.

Simona sighed. “Let’s give it some more time. My brother… he can be pretty intimidating sometimes.”
