Patrick gave Darrell a couple of glances as he recollected about Grandma May's past.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
"Uncle True, I'm very devoted to my wife too." Darrell understood the meaning behind Patrick's glances and immediately made it clear that he was also a doting husband.
Patrick smiled with satisfaction. "I can tell that you dote on our Missy Drey very much."
Audrey felt a warm sensation in her heart. Patrick was equivalent to family. Even if her parents were still alive, considering Patrick's position and how much he cared for her and her sister, he would indeed still be considered family. Both her parents always said Uncle True was the truest of them all and there was no need to worry he would betray them.
He often helped her mother with work and spent time with her alone, discussing plans, but even then her father did not worry the slightest and would not take offense. In Audrey's impression, her mother had not been in good health and often had to rest in bed, while her father was a mild-tempered man who always worried about her mother's health. He would get very nervous the moment her mother felt a single whit of discomfort.
When she was young, she did not understand love. Now that she was getting on in years, Audrey felt that her parents genuinely shared affection for one another when she recalled how they interacted, unlike Hunter and Belinda who did not truly feel anything for each other despite having been married for decades.
Belinda treated Hunter as a tool to be thrown away once he was used, if she were so inclined to. If not, she kept him as a pet. Either way, she did not have to spend much money. She clutched the strings of Hunter's wallet too tightly. Little did she know that the tighter she held onto it, the easier it was for things to go wrong.
Of course, it was precisely because of this that they could ruin Belinda and Hunter's marriage through Hunter and throw Fisher Manor into chaos. "Darrell's always been very good to me. When my in-laws were still alive, they treated me well too, like I was their daughter," Audrey assured. "Without their sincere love and trust, I would never have been able to achieve so much when I was young."
Her mother-in-law, Old Mrs. Stone, had been strongly biased against her at first. Before Darrell fell for her and thought of marrying her, Old Mrs. Stone had met her before and knew just how capable she was. At the time, she was still friendly and as the president's wife, she appreciated her very much.

However, after Darrell had fallen for her and insisted on marrying her, Old Mrs. Stone changed. Still, Audrey never resented her. Now that she was a mother-in-law herself, she could understand the vehemence of Old Mrs. Stone's reaction back then. From her point of view, it would have been hard to accept her precious son marrying an orphan with no background.
Even mothers-in-law from ordinary families did not like their daughters-in-law to be orphans, let alone a distinguished family like the Stones. No matter how capable Old Mrs. Stone thought she was, she was simply an employee, a commoner, and the Stones were way out of her league.
That was why she could understand and accept Old Mrs. Stone's disdainful behavior after she married into the family. As long as she dide not cross the line, she could ignore it whenever the old lady made a fuss. On the other hand, she did not have a single bad word to say about Old Mr. Stone's and Darrell's treatment of her.
Had it not been for their unconditional support, she would not have been able to dominate the business world by Darrell's side and become one of the iron ladies in the industry. Even with her capability; she needed a platform to showcase it, and Stone Group was precisely where she could do that. Later on, when Stone Group faced a crisis, she saved the day, allowing them to overcome the crisis and preserve the family business.
