Chapter 180
Chapter 180
Letitia mulled it over for a bit before shaking her head, “Nah, I can’t take off right now.”
“Getting cold feet, huh? Developed a taste for the glitz and glam of the Ramirez family?” Hawley eyed her. “Don’t kid yourself, Letitia. As long as I draw breath, I won’t let you get your way!”
She stood her ground, “I will leave, but not this instant!”
Her mom hadn’t come to yet, and Elgin’s hand was still on the mend. She couldn’t just ditch everything and bail. What was the point of leaving if you still dwell on things here?
If Letitia’s gonna hit the road, she’s gonna do it for good, no looking back.
“Ha! I can tell you’re just not ready to let go with second thoughts now, eh?” Hawley remarked. “You don’t get a say in this anymore, Letitia. There is no room in the Ramirez family for a troublemaker like you!”
“So, you used Shela as a decoy to lure me here.”
“That Shela, I’ll make her pay. She’s not getting off easy… compared to her, I’ve been merciful to you!”
Letitia slowly backed away, “I’ve made myself clear. I’m waiting till everything’s settled, especially for my mom. I
can’t leave her on her own!”
She was not just fighting for her mom, but also for her incarcerated dad, and most importantly, for the truth that was tantalizingly within grasp. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
With just a little more time given to her, Letitia would be ready soon to leave here.
Why the rush to push her out now?
Letitia turned and made a beeline for the door, but a bodyguard appeared out of nowhere to block her path.
“Move,” she demanded. “I’m heading back to Ivory Towers.”
The bodyguard shot a puzzled glance at Hawley.
Surprisingly, he waved his hand dismissively, “Let her go.”
Elated, Letitia quickened her pace.
But the moment she stepped out the door, a strange and faint scent hit her nostrils. Then darkness swallowed
her whole
Watching Letitia crumple to the ground, Hawley let out a cold and mocking laugh, “Ha, you’re in over your head, girl.”
He was over seventy and weathered countless storms. She was no match for him!
“Ship her off to the airport,” Hawley commanded. “Arrange a flight and get her out of the country. Make sure she never sets foot in AquaCity again!”
“Yes, boss.”
The bodyguard sprang into action.
Hawley finally broke into a satisfied grin.
There’s plenty of fish in the sea. With the Ramirez family’s clout, what kind of beauty couldn’t Elgin have?
He’d line up beauties of all shapes for Elgin to pick.
Hawley was sure Elgin would forget all about Letitia once lost in a sea of new lovers.
Time healed all wounds!
The bodyguards lifted Letitia into the car and sped away from the holiday villa.
The car vanished into the distance.
When Letitia woke up, the roar of engines filled her ears, a deafening chaos.
As her senses returned, she sat up sharply, scanning her surroundings.
This was…A private jet! She was on a plane!
Letitia rushed to the window, blue skies and endless clouds stretched out before her.
She was up in the sky!
Hawley sure was a man of action. When he decided to send her packing, he wasted no time!
Now she was trapped in thousands of feet in the air with nowhere to run. What a real dead end!
“So I’m just leaving like this?” Letitia mumbled to herself. “Did I ever imagine escaping in this way? What about my parents? What about the truth?”
But none of this was under her control anymore.
And… what would Elgin look like when he realized she was gone? Would he come looking for her? Could he find her?
In the hospital room, Elgin found himself half-sitting on the sterile bed, a pile of untouched documents in his hand.
Ranen stood by, not daring to make a sound.
With years of experience by Mr. Ramirez’s side, Ranen knew his mood was… seriously off. Terribly so!
Elgin appeared to be reading, but his mind wasn’t there at all.
“Mr. Ramirez, maybe…” Ranen ventured, “We call it a day and continue tomorrow?”
With a slap, Elgin threw the documents onto the table.
“Mr. Ram… Mr. Ramirez…”
“Out.”
“Yes!”
Elgin pinched the bridge of his nose, paused, then commanded, “Come back!”
Ranen had no choice but to return. “What can I do for you, Mr. Ramirez?”
But Elgin fell silent again.
“Actually… if you’re missing the missus, you could give her a call,” Ranen suggested. “Even if you can’t see her, just hearing her voice or having a video call could ease the longing.”
Elgin shot him a cool glance. “Did I ask for your opinion?”
Ranen hung his head.
Once Ranen had left, Elgin picked up his phone and dialed Letitia’s number.
No answer..
She was avoiding his calls? Fine.
immediately, he called the butler, “Where is she?”
Mr. Ramirez, you mean Mrs. Ramirez?”
Who else?”
“Didn’t she go to the hospital to be with you? the butler responded. “She hasn’t been back at all
Elgin darkened his expression instantly. “What did you say? She didn’t return?”
“Yeah, I thought maybe the madam was staying over at the hospital tonight.”
This wasn’t right!
Elgin realized something was seriously amiss.
He flung off the covers, “Search! I want a city wide search for Letitia now!”
She had left early but never returned to Ivory Towers. Where could she be?
Two possibilities flashed through Elgin’s mind.
Either she was in danger again or she’d managed to escape.
Each possibility was unbearable for Elgin!
At the sight of Elgin going out of the ward, everyone was stunned.
They gathered around him, “Mr. Ramirez, your hand…”
“What are you waiting for? Find her!” Elgin grabbed a bodyguard. “Turn AquaCity upside down if you have to, but find Letitia!”
“The madam? Didn’t she leave the hospital early this morning?”
Elgin had a stormy look on his face, “Yeah, she went out of the hospital, and then where did she go? Check the cameras! I want to review all the hospital surveillance footage!”
The bodyguard replied, “The missus’ travels these past few days have all been masterminded by Senior Mr. Ramirez…”
Elgin was taken aback.
That was right. Ever since he got injured, his grandpa has been pulling Letitia’s strings!
He suddenly let go of the bodyguard, pressing his lips together tightly, with a downright terrifying expression.
“Mr. Ramirez, you need to keep your hand immobilized, you shouldn’t be…”
“Beat it!” He shoved the concern away, “Find her. That’s what matters most right now!”
Elgin strode toward the elevator.
He couldn’t care less about anything now. Not his hand, not his injuries… none of it mattered!
Letitia was what mattered most! He had to find her!
Even at this moment, Elgin managed to hold onto the last shred of his cool, “Samson.”
“Here, here, came Samson’s lazy voice, “I finally get a day off to sleep in. What’s got you all riled up now?”
