The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 26 Heartbreak

In the hospital, the doc was patching up Mia. Her face needed disinfecting, and her arms and ankles, rubbed raw from being tied up, needed some TLC too. Mia, who used to be a real beauty, now had one side of her face all swollen and red with three nasty scars. She looked pretty rough.

While getting treated, Mia called Alexander. "Uncle, help me!"

Getting a call in the middle of the night, Alexander frowned hard.

Mia went on, "Uncle Alexander, I'm at the hospital. Can you call my parents and tell them I'm crashing at the Carter Manor tonight and won't be home?" Hearing this, Alexander's voice turned icy. "Which hospital?"

Holding back his anger, Alexander grabbed his coat and sped to the hospital. When he saw Mia's sorry state, his eyes went red.

"Who did this?"

Seeing Alexander's face, Mia got a bit scared and shrank back.

Mia explained, "Uncle Alexander, I... I was kidnapped. Allison saved me." Alexander was instantly livid.

When he saw Allison applying medicine, he felt like he couldn't breathe.

Her shoulder had a huge bruise, swollen and way worse than Mia's injuries.

When Allison finished with the medicine and saw Alexander, she said flatly, "Mr. Carter, I'm sorry. It's my fault Mia got involved. Sophia kidnapped Mia because of me." Alexander felt like his head was gonna explode from anger at Allison, so he walked over, grabbed her hand, and dragged her out of the ER.

With a flick of his hand, Allison's back hit the wall, making her wince in pain. At the next moment, Alexander was glaring at her. "Why didn't you come to me first?" Allison's face went pale as she looked up at him.

Allison said, "We're both back safe now. Besides, I checked things out before going in; I could handle it!"

"But you got hurt!" Alexander's tone was sharp with anger.

Allison looked at him, surprised. Why was Alexander in such a bad mood today?

At the next moment, Alexander pulled her into a tight hug.

Alexander said softly, "Allison, don't take everything upon yourself. If you're in danger, you gotta tell me."

His words were harsh, but Allison could hear the concern in his voice.

She wanted to break free from his embrace but couldn't.

"Alexander, I'm used to it." Allison's voice was like a knife to Alexander's heart.

Allison was the same age as Mia. While Mia was being spoiled by her parents, Allison was kicked out by her family and had to fend for herself.

Allison could smell the pine scent on Alexander, and his hug was warm, but it made her uneasy.

"Alexander, you're hugging too tight!" Allison felt super awkward; she'd never been this close to a guy before.

Alexander thought of her shoulder injury and loosened his grip a bit.

Allison slowly looked up, and the worry and pain in Alexander's eyes made her feel really alarmed. So she pushed him away and leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. Alexander said again, "Allison, you can tell me whenever you're in danger."

Allison was a bit confused and said, "Alexander, we're not that close, and I'm not like the girls you know. I can take care of myself; I don't need anyone's help!"

Alexander clenched his fists secretly. Allison was like a porcupine, her spikes protecting her fragile heart.

"I'm not trying to force you. I just want you to know that besides yourself, there are people who genuinely care about you, like Mia, like me! No matter what you face, I hope I can be your support."

"Why do you want to help me? Why do you want to be my support?" Allison asked Alexander.

Hearing her question, Alexander smiled.

"Because I like you. I can't stand seeing you suffer or get hurt. Allison, can you give me a chance?" Alexander's straightforwardness left Allison speechless. She was still an eighteen-year-old girl, inexperienced in matters of the heart.

Alexander was so blunt, but she couldn't just let someone become her boyfriend that easily.

The situation between them was a bit awkward, but luckily, Mia had finished her treatment and came out.

"Allison, can I stay at your place tonight?" Mia asked with a pleading look. Thinking about what Mia had gone through today, Allison nodded.

They had already given their statements to the police. Allison didn't care what would happen to Sophia because, no matter what, Sophia had brought it on herself. However, having two extra people at home suddenly made Allison feel a bit uneasy.

The guest room was ready, but Mia insisted on sharing a room with Allison. Noticing Allison's discomfort, Alexander dragged Mia to the guest room.

"Stay here quietly, or I'll call your parents!" With that one sentence, Mia immediately quieted down, took a bath, and went to sleep.

The pajamas were Allison's, with a cartoon design that Mia loved.

Mia said, "I love this cartoon character the most!"

Seeing Mia go to sleep, Allison finally breathed a sigh of relief. But when she turned and saw Alexander in the living room, her brows furrowed again.

Knowing she was uncomfortable, Alexander picked up his coat and stood in front of her.

"I'll call Mia out sick for a few days. She shouldn't go to school in her current state. I'll come to take you to school tomorrow morning, and you can't refuse!" Alexander said firmly.

Allison wanted to refuse, but before she could argue, Alexander had already left.

After sleeping for three hours, Allison got up. Just as she finished getting dressed, the doorbell rang. Allison opened the door with some suspicion and was surprised to see Alexander. Allison said, "Mr. Carter, this is..."novelbin

Alexander handed her the breakfast. "I bought breakfast. After eating, I'll take you to school!"

Allison's expression turned cold. "Mr. Carter, I can go by myself. There's no need to trouble you!"

Alexander said coldly, "Allison, this is for your safety!"

Alexander could sense that Allison was resisting his approach, but to him, her resistance was futile. The person he wanted couldn't escape.

Allison couldn't refuse, so she obediently ate. After breakfast, Alexander personally took her to school. When Mia woke up, she was a bit disoriented.

Felicity said, "Ms. Wilson, you're up!"

Seeing Felicity, Mia's eyes lit up.

"Felicity, long time no see!"

Felicity smiled kindly and brought out some food from the kitchen. Seeing Mia's thin face, she felt a pang of heartache. "If Mr. Aiden Carter knew, he would be heartbroken!" Mia was eating heartily, but hearing Felicity mention Aiden, she became nervous.

"Felicity, please don't tell him. If my parents find out, they'll definitely scold me." Mia didn't notice someone entering through the door as she spoke.

"Mia. You've really outdone yourself this time, hiding such a big thing from me!"

Startled, Mia dropped her spoon and started crying. She ran to the door and hugged Liliana tightly.

Liliana held Mia, feeling both angry and heartbroken.
