The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 229 Playing the Good Person Again

A sudden, loud banging on the door jolted Emily and Abigail awake.

Abigail groaned, "Emily, can you get the door? I need a few more minutes of sleep."

Even though Abigail was closer to the door, she was too lazy to get up, acting like she was glued to the bed. With no other choice, Emily slipped on her slippers and went to answer the door.

Still half-asleep and confused, Emily opened the door and was immediately slapped in the face, which snapped her fully awake. She looked up to see a group of furious women standing there.novelbin

The woman leading the pack glared at her with such intensity, it felt like she wanted to tear her apart.

Emily racked her brain. She hadn't been to work in days and hadn't offended anyone. Who were these people?

"Who are you?" Emily asked. The woman slapped her again and started yelling, "Who am I? You don't deserve to know! You homewrecker, look at you with that pathetic face. Is this how you seduced my husband? Did he satisfy you? How was he in bed?"

The woman's words were brutal, and she got angrier as she spoke.

In no time, she was about to slap Emily again.

But Emily could already feel blood at the corner of her mouth, and the taste of it made her feel both wronged and humiliated.

In her relationship with Michael, she was the one who had been wronged.

A mistress deserved to be hit.

But she wasn't a mistress.

Before the women outside the door could react, Emily quickly slapped her back twice. Besides, she immediately called the police. "I'm not a mistress, and I won't let you hit me so easily. I don't know who you are or why you're suddenly accusing me. I'm calling the police to handle this. There are cameras in the hallway, so even if you run, it won't matter. Stay here and explain yourselves."

With that, Emily wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and stared at the woman who hit her.

Meanwhile, Abigail heard the commotion outside the door.

She rushed out and immediately stood protectively in front of Emily.

The woman was stunned. "Wh-what? Two women?"

The women behind her quickly chimed in. "How could you not check what the mistress looks like before coming here? We might have hit the wrong person and will have to pay for it!"

Hearing this, Abigail, though not knowing where these wild women came from, knew that neither she nor Emily was a mistress. She shouted at them, "Disturbing people early in the morning is one thing, but hitting my friend is another! Do you know who she is? She's the wife of Michael from Emerald City Smith Corporation!"

Of course, Abigail wasn't just shouting for nothing.

She quickly called the president's office of Smith Corporation, and Emily couldn't stop her. On the other end, Andrew quickly informed Michael, who was in the middle of a meeting. Michael didn't waste a second. He dismissed the meeting and sped to the police station. Emily tried to reassure Abigail, "Hey, I'm okay now. Stop crying."

Abigail sobbed, "It's all my fault."

Emily comforted her, "Fault? It's their fault, no, that jerk's fault. Once this is over, we can go home and dump that jerk for good, okay?"

Abigail nodded tearfully.

Just then, Michael arrived.

Seeing the injury on Emily's mouth, he immediately pulled Abigail aside and checked on Emily. "How are you? Does it hurt?"

His concern was genuine.

Michael's actions took both Emily and Abigail by surprise.

If this was fate...

Then it must be fated love.

Emily shook her head, "I'm fine... it doesn't hurt."

Saying it didn't hurt was a lie.

When Emily was first slapped, she felt very wronged. Michael's image flashed in her mind, and she had tears in her eyes, though not obvious.

"How could it not hurt? Her face is still swollen. Michael, feel it yourself!" Abigail, with her sharp eyes and quick mind, immediately helped Michael. Without hesitation, Michael touched Emily's cheek. "It's still hot; they really slammed into you!"

Hearing this, Emily lowered her head, thinking to herself, 'With you touching it, how could it not be hot?'

The next second, Michael turned to Abigail. "Where are they?"

Abigail knew who Michael was asking about and pointed to the door.

Michael stood up and was about to walk over when Emily grabbed him. "What are you going to do?"

Abigail pulled Emily's hand away and said, "Mr. Smith is going to avenge you, Emily. We can't be merciful now!"

With that, Abigail gratefully looked at Michael. "Mr. Smith, they're inside. To be honest, the woman who hit Emily is my ex-boyfriend's... no, that jerk's wife. She saw our chat records and came to catch me. Unexpectedly, she mistook Emily for me and hit her. I feel so guilty. If Emily hadn't stopped me, I would have torn them apart!"

Hearing this, Michael frowned and looked at Emily, who avoided his gaze. "You're playing the good person again?"

Michael was angry that Emily never considered herself.

But Emily didn't want to cause more trouble and affect Smith Corporation's reputation.

She knew Michael wouldn't understand, so she didn't bother explaining and looked away.

Seeing this, Michael got even angrier and walked straight to the room.

Emily and Abigail followed closely. Inside, the instigator stood aside while his wife cried pitifully in front of the police.

Suddenly, Michael's words broke the atmosphere. "The one who got hit is my wife. The one who got injured and bled is my wife. I haven't cried, so why are you crying?"

Even the police taking the statement couldn't help but want to speak up for him.
