The Cherished Wife



"Are you sure you're not exaggerating?"

"I know this woman. She's from the project department. Rumor has it she's got something going on with Mr. Parker too!"

Noelle narrowed her eyes slightly and glanced back at the group of women gossiping. She pressed her lips together.

Initially, she had not planned to pay them any attention. After all, in the office, gossip and idle chatter were just a way for people to pass the time, regardless of whether they were true or not.

However, today, Noelle was in a bad mood. These women just happened to provoke her at the wrong moment. She frowned slightly, paused in her tracks, and turned around to approach the group.

She stopped right in front of them.

Today, Noelle wore a long coat that gave her an air of confidence and authority. She had on four-inch high heels, which added to her height and presence. It made her instantly more imposing than the women before her.

Narrowing her eyes, she smiled. "We're all colleagues, and it's normal to discuss things you're unclear about, so I usually wouldn't say much about it. But it's early in the morning, and you're already gossiping even before lunchtime. And to do it right in front of me? That's not very considerate, is it?"

The women had not expected Noelle to confront them so openly. They were used to gossiping behind people's backs, but it was rare for anyone to challenge them face-to-face.

got into this company is my own business. I didn't steal, and I didn't cheat my way in. As for who I'm involved with, that's my private matter, and it doesn't concern you. And let me remind you, Mr. Wells and Mr. Parker aren't people you can casually gossip about."

"You... Why are you acting so arrogant? Everyone knows you only got into Collosus Group through shady means. If there's nothing to hide, how did you climb up the ranks so fast?"

"Oh? So because I advanced quickly, you think I used underhanded methods? Should I take that as a compliment that you think I'm attractive enough to use such tactics?" Noelle sneered.

"We're all women. I didn't realize that it's us women who'd degrade ourselves even before the men do. Even if you're so willing to bow down and belittle yourself, don't assume every woman shares that mindset."

Noelle's tone turned sharp, sending chills down their spines and instilling fear. She pressed her lips together and then continued, "It's true that might not be particularly talented, and maybe luck played a role in me joining Collosus Group.

"But to suggest I climbed my way up improperly is going too far. I'm not sure where your bias against me stems from, but remember, this is Collosus Group, one of the top companies in Brookville. You were able to join this company because you're talented, so don't ruin your reputation by letting your mouth get the better of you."

After she was done, Noelle felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Suddenly, clapping came from behind. Noelle turned and was surprised to see who it was. "Mr. Parker?"

"I didn't expect to witness such a brilliant performance so early in the morning. Ms. Shaw, well said," Brian praised her with a nod. Then, he turned his gaze to the group of women, his eyes cold and piercing.

"This is work hours. The company didn't hire you to gossip. Now, get back to work!"
