The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 189

There was a deadly silence inside the old factory. The metallic smell of blood spread through the air, mixing with the rustiness of the old machines and the smell of something festering. It was nauseating. Suddenly, Lorraine asked, "Why aren't there any animal sounds, Dad? And why isn't anyone talking? Are the baddies all gone?"

Matthew rubbed her back gently and said, "Yeah, they're gone. Here, let me make a sound for you, and you can guess what it is. Meow!"

She cried happily, "It's a cat! I know it is! I'm really smart, aren't I?"

He hummed in agreement. He'd only talked about imitating animals because he was worried the men would scare Lorraine with their yells and shouts when he killed them. If they got too noisy, he could imitate animals to soothe her. Now that he wasn't attacking anyone, he stopped making animal noises. Instead, he looked around warily.

The atmosphere was as weird as hell. Over a dozen men stood there with weapons in their hands. They outnumbered him, but none of them dared to step forward. It was as if they'd brought blades along to watch Matthew coax Lorraine. Xavier stood atop an old and broken machine, looking ashen as he stared at Matthew in fright. All he could say was that he was terrified and dumbstruck. When had Matthew become so powerful when he'd been so worthless in the past? A chill ran down his spine as he thought about what he'd just witnessed. Matthew tightened his hold on Lorraine as he shot toward the men. As he passed by Jack's body, he pulled out the iron rod and took the men down with it.

He moved as swiftly as the wind, and he swung the iron rod around like it weighed nothing. Everything that came into contact with the iron rod ended up on the ground.

When Matthew stood still, there were only dead bodies behind him. The smell of blood thickened.

Xavier was so frightened by this that he wanted to flee. Unfortunately for him, he tripped and fell from atop the old machine. He clutched his leg, gasping from the pain of the fall.

Matthew stalked toward him with the bloody rod in hand. His murderous intent grew with every step he took.

Xavier kept backing away, so frightened that his soul nearly left his body. It was only when he was backed up against an old machine that he begged, "Please... please let me off the hook. I know I made a mistake."

Matthew's eyes flashed icily. The veins on his right hand protruded as he clutched the iron rod tightly. "Yeah, you've made a mistake. A huge one too. You dared to harm Lori a second time!" Xavier trembled violently. "Let me go for Tessa's sake. You two used to be married, after all!"

Matthew said frostily, "She means nothing to me."

Xavier slumped on the ground. The fear made him wet his pants. He continued begging for mercy, his tone filled with terror. "Please don't kill me. Please! I'm begging you!" Matthew swung the iron rod and shattered Xavier's legs. Then, he said coldly, "Tell me who put you up to this."

There was no way Xavier could gather so many men. He didn't have the connections or the money. Someone else had to be behind this.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

from the pain. "I- I don't know who

he is! He just gave me a million dollars and told me he'd w- watch over me in the future. God, the pain! That's all I know! Please let me go!"

Matthew swung the iron rod again, making Xavier collapse on the ground. He'd been knocked unconscious.

Matthew's gaze was ice-cold and he couldn't help thinking that killing Xavier would be letting him off too easy. He wanted Xavier to suffer for the rest of his life.

He dropped the iron rod and left the factory with Lorraine in his arms.

"Did you get into a fight with someone, Dad?" she asked. She tilted her head up, seemingly waiting for him to answer.

He imitated a dog's barking, which made her pout. "Stop barking! I asked you a question!"

His expression turned a little bitter. Why was Lorraine so smart when she was still so young? He couldn't even lie to her anymore. Still, he had no choice but to continue lying "No, I didn't. A few dogs got into a fight though."
