The Last Ceo’s Deal

Chapter 33: A nightmare again

CHAPTER 33.

I look at him for a whole minute. A laptop is on the desk before him.

“What are you doing here?” I ask eventually.

He shrugs. “This is my house Christine.”

“That doesn’t mean you can creep in here while I’m asleep.”

He grins. “I didn’t have much to do so..”

“So you came to look at me while I slept?”

He looks at me. “Did you miss your dad that much?”

“What?”

His gaze remains impassive as he regards me carefully. “Webb. Do you miss him?”

I freeze on the spot. “I have no idea what you are talking about.”

“You were calling him in your sleep, just before you woke up. You were kind of moaning or whimpering; I’m not sure which.”

All blood drained from my face. I had a nightmare again while I slept. It’s obvious he heard me but he got the whole thing wrong. I’m not giving him explanations though.

“Why are you here Fanuel? Your bedroom is on the ground floor.”

“I was trying to work and I couldn’t concentrate so I came in here. Your loud snoring distracted me a lot but I got some work done.”

“I don’t snore.” I practically yell in his face.

“How would you know that?”

I glare at him before I push the duvet back on the bed. The wall clock says it’s a few minutes past 20:00 hours. Seems like I napped the evening away.

I turn to walk to the washroom and he immediately stands up.

“Where are you going?” His eyes are alert with alarm.

“To the bathroom.”

“Oh,” he sits down again and I frown.

“What the hell was that?”

“I thought you were leaving.” He says while avoiding my gaze.

“Leaving?” I ask, my face a mask of confusion.

“Never mind, not that you would dare.” He flicks his hand in dismissal and I huff as I walk to the bathroom

I brush my teeth and run my hand through the tangled curls on my head. I braid my hair into a messy bun and flush some cold water on my face.

Fanuel looks up from the computer when I walk back in.

“You should change into something more comfortable. That skirt looks too tight on you.. I almost think you’re in pain.”

I’m not sure whether he’s concerned or being sarcastic so I simply ignore him. I retrieve hand lotion from my bag and squirt some into my palm.

“I hate repeating myself Christine. Change, Now!”

“I don’t have clothes over here. I’m going to my apartment so you don’t have to worry about my skirt suffocating me to death.”

He raises an eyebrow.

“You’re too feisty for this life, stubborn and stiff necked, Anyway, your closet is full.”

“Which closet?”

“How many closets do you see here?”

“You don’t have to be rude.”

“And you don’t have to be blind.”

Jeez. I walk to the closet and open the double doors.

Then I get the surprise of my life.

All my clothes are arranged neatly in there.

All of them.

My clothes, shoes, bags.. You name it.

“What the fuck is this?” I ask angrily while staring at the clothes.

“It’s clothes I guess.” Fanuel’s voice is right behind me. I whip around to look at him.

“Why were my clothes moved here? When?”

He takes a step towards me and we’re a breath away from each other. I want to punch him so hard.

“We’re getting married tomorrow. Why would the clothes stay in your apartment?”

“Why can’t my clothes remain there?” I’m yelling again. Why on earth is he acting so calm? It’s outright irritating.

“Because you’ll be staying here and the apartment will be of no use to you.”

I grit my teeth angrily. I love my apartment so much.

“I hate you.”

He bursts out laughing.

“Really? That’s the first time anyone ever told me that.”

“I mean it, Fanuel.” I say through my teeth.

He cocks that eyebrow.

“The feeling is mutual! Not that I liked you better…you’re too wacky too be my type”

I don’t know why that hurts though, I bit my lips in pain.

“Does this come naturally?”

“What?”

“Being a jerk.”

He grins.

“Maybe.”

“It’s not funny.”

“It isn’t, but you are.”

I sigh deeply. I’m not sure if I still want to do this.

“No matter how long it will take Fanuel, Webb will surely come back and I will break free from your arrogance or better still the contract will expire.”

“Until then, you’re stuck with me. Thanks to you I got a wonderful multi-million dollar project with the King’s consolidated company in Atlanta. They really admire you and that’s really lovely for the business.”

“You don’t know what it means to do something against your wish, maybe until then.. you’ll understand.”

“There’s nothing to understand here, all you need to do is be a good wife and we won’t have problems.

I’ve got rules and never in your life should you break them. Just play cool, get me a baby boy and I’ll take good care of you.”

“I don’t need anyone to take care of me.” I yelled

“We’re not debating on this Christine.”

“What if I bail out?”

“You wouldn’t dare.”Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

“And if I did?”

“I’d destroy you. The media will be all over the case and that is not good for my job. You cooperate with me and you’ll be at peace.”

“If I don’t?”

“There will be consequences. Your parents will lose their jobs.. Your brother is a nice guy even though he’s my biggest enemy. I’m sure you don’t want to do that to him.”

I inhale then exhale softly.

“And if I eventually get pregnant and refuse to give you my baby?”

“You wouldn’t dare,

Don’t try me Christine. It’s my child too and trust me, my lawyers are the best in the country. I’ll torture you until you beg for my mercy.”

“Are you always this shrewd?”

“You have no idea. Just stay, get married to me tomorrow, and everyone will be at peace.”

“You’re blackmailing me.”

“I don’t like you in clothes I didn’t specifically buy for you. I guess we’ll have to donate the whole closet to charity.”

I sure as hell don’t like that tone.

“I love my clothes, Fanuel.”

“I don’t like them.”

“You don’t have to. They’re mine not yours.”

“Sherry is going to design your new wardrobe. End of discussion.”

“Can’t you get another designer at least?”

“She is the best there. Trust me, you’re going to love her work.”

I watch as he walks around the bed to retrieve his laptop from the desk then takes purposeful steps towards the door.

He turns around just before he reaches the door.

“And Christine?”

“Yes?”

“Stay away from my brother, that’s my number one rule, Goodnight.”

He slams the door and I collapse on the bed with tears. A perfect marriage in making.
