Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1339

Chapter 1339

Wayne seemed too interested in staying longer, and Luther could tell. He knew Wayne was using this business partnership to find out more about his connection with Pearl.

Luther wasn't going to give him that chance.

"I'm sorry, but I don't plan to do that for now," Luther said, checking his watch. It was fifteen minutes later than he thought, which made him frown and lose any interest in continuing the conversation.

"I need to go now. I have something to get to," Luther added.

Wayne looked like he wanted to say something to keep Luther there, but he held back when he noticed Luther's annoyed expression. "I'll come see you again then."

After watching Wayne leave, Luther quickly grabbed his coat and headed downstairs.

The car that had been parked outside was gone. His phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Pearl.

[It's a little late and I don't want to be late picking up Dar, so I left without you. :)]

Reading the message, Luther felt a mix of warmth and regret. He remembered telling Darius yesterday that he would see him, and he felt it was time to do just that.

Pearl had been adamant about enrolling Darius in a nursery school where all the children were from their home country. She probably did it because she missed her homeland and wanted Darius to remember his roots, though she couldn't recall the exact reason.

Ever since she woke up with no memories, Luther had been the one to tell her about her life. He told her she had been a remarkable person, but her life was filled with tragedy. An accident had taken all her loved ones, including the father of her unborn child. Yet, she didn't feel sad, likely due to her memory loss.

Despite her suspicions that Luther might not be telling her the truth, he was the only person she could trust at the time. He claimed he was her husband's best friend and promised to look after her and ensure the baby was safely born.

Pearl found Luther kind and trustworthy, so she lowered her guard around him, and he treated her just as well as he had four years ago.C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

Arriving at the gates, Pearl noticed everyone staring. Her beauty often drew attention, and today was no different. Some men couldn't help but stare, earning scowls and more from their partners.

The teacher greeted her with a smile. "You're Darius's mother. He's been a good boy. I'll go get him."

Pearl was proud to hear that Darius was behaving well. He always seemed more mature and patient than other children his age.

She followed the teacher toward the classroom. As they approached the door, they heard children arguing.

"Who says I don't have a dad?"

"You! You're a bastard!"

Hearing this, Pearl's heart sank.
